Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) - The earliest historical mention of Bran Castle, also known as Dracula’s Castle, is a document from November 19, 1377, issued by the King of Hungary, granting the people of Brasov the right to construct the fortress. Between 1920 and 1927, Bran Castle was renovated under the guidance of the royal court architect, transforming it into a stunning summer residence complete with a park, walking paths, a lake, fountains, and a tea house. In 1938, Queen Maria of Romania left Bran Castle and its estates to her daughter, Princess Ileana, who owned it until 1948.
Peles Castle - Peles Castle is one of the most well-preserved royal palaces in Europe. The castle is richly adorned both inside and out, featuring intricate wood carvings and paintings depicting scenes from the works of German composer Richard Wagner.
Brasov - Brasov is encircled by the Southern Carpathians and is part of the Transylvania region. It serves as an excellent starting point for exploring Romania. It is also the largest city in a mountain resort area. The old city is remarkably well-preserved and is best viewed by taking the cable car to the top of Tâmpa Mountain (995 m), offering a stunning vantage point.
Brasov - Sighisoara - Sibiu
Sighisoara - The Old Town of Sighisoara is a delight to explore with its cobbled streets, vibrant houses, and ornate churches. Visitors can see the Clock Tower, Church on the Hill, and Dracula’s house, where Vlad Tepes was born in 1431. The houses within the Citadel of Sighisoara exhibit the main characteristics of a craftsmen’s town, with some homes belonging to the former town elite, such as the Venetian House and the House with Antlers.
Sibiu - to Bucharest
Sibiu - Sibiu is one of the most significant fortified towns in Transylvania. The city, reminiscent of old European cities like Nurnberg, was founded in 1190 and became the principal city of the Transylvanian Saxons. This remarkable place, with its “Old Town” (The Big Square, the Small Square, the Ursuline Church, The Franciscan Church, The Staircase Tower, the Tanners Tower, the Liar’s Bridge, the House of the Butcher’s Guild, and the impressive Bruckenthal Museum), is a wonderful destination to visit.
