Your guide will meet you at 9 am in the Council City Square of Brasov. Once everyone has arrived, you will board your AC van/coach and head south towards the historic border between Romania and Transylvania. The first stop will be Peles Castle in Sinaia, the residence of Romanian Royal families for nearly 100 years. At the onset of WW1, Romania found itself in a challenging position. King Ferdinand of Habsburg, German by birth, leaned towards aiding the German King, Wilhelm II, while his wife, Queen Maria of Romania, English by birth, supported the Allies (Entente - The Gentlemen’s Agreement). Initially, King Ferdinand chose neutrality, but two years later, Romania joined the war on the side of the Allies and against Germany. A year later, after exhausting its military resources, Romania re-entered a neutral stance in the war. The next stop will be the Cemetery of the Unknown Soldier, where hundreds of Romanian, Hungarian, German, Russian, Austrian, and other soldiers who died in the war are buried. The price includes entry fees, tickets, transport, and lunch at a traditional Romanian restaurant in Sinaia.
