• Atomium - On the journey to Antwerp, there will be a brief stop at the Atomium, a monument recognized as the emblem of Brussels and Belgium. This is a perfect opportunity to capture some memorable photos.
• Plantinkaai - The bus will drop everyone off at the city bus station.
• Steenplein - The group will walk along the river sidewalk to the city center. Before the tour begins, there will be a stop for a restroom break and to designate the meeting point for the afternoon return to Brussels.

With the skyline and river as a backdrop, there will be a brief introduction to the city’s history.

• Het Steen - The tour’s first stop is Steen Castle, where the history of the building and the unique roof shapes in Holland and Belgium will be explained.
• Vleeshuisstraat - Besides admiring the former meat house building, there will be a discussion on historical commerce and city organization.
• Grote Markt - In this iconic square, the town hall, various guild houses, and the legend of the Standbeeld van Brabo sculpture will be explored.
• Carolus Borromeus Church - This stop includes a visit to the former Saint Ignatius of Loyola church, now Saint Carolus Borromeus, featuring a Rubens painting in its original setting.
• Lijnwaadmarkt - The group will head towards the cathedral, with the guide explaining Belgian politics along the way.
• Cathedral of Our Lady - The architectural styles of the cathedral and some of Rubens’ works housed inside will be explored. In front of the cathedral, a beautiful sculpture and its touching history will be discovered.
• Groenplaats - The transformation of the old cathedral cemetery into the current “green square” will be discussed. This is also a great spot for photos of the cathedral and the Rubens sculpture.
• Meir - The tour will proceed to Meir Avenue, known for its remarkable buildings and as the city’s premier shopping street. In the middle of the avenue, the giant hand sculpture will be explained, highlighting Antwerp and Belgium’s connection to this symbol.
• Antwerp - Free time will be provided, approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic and group pace.
• Ghent - Arrival in Ghent, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. The group will walk to the center to begin the guided tour.
• Ghent Town Hall (Stadhuis) - The guided tour starts in front of the Town Hall, where the guide will explain the building’s various architectural styles.
• Belfry and Cloth Hall (Belfort en Lakenhalle) - The guide will discuss this iconic tower and the history of its dragon.
• St. Bavo’s Cathedral (Sint-Baafskathedraal) - The exterior and interior of Ghent’s Cathedral will be explored, home to the most stolen painting in history, “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb” by the Van Eyck brothers.
• Saint Nicholas Church - Did you know Belgian churches host concerts and other events?
• Masons’ Guild Hall - In front of the original facade of the Masons guild house, the guide will explain the concept of guild houses and the uniqueness of this one.
• Korenmarkt - In front of Saint Nicholas Church, the Korenmarkt will be discussed, including the unique history of the former post office building.
• St Michael’s Bridge - This bridge offers incredible photo opportunities, and the story of Saint Michael’s Church tower will be shared.
• Graslei and Korenlei - The tour will follow the Lys riverbank, exploring buildings like the Masons’ Guild House and the current Marriott Hotel, with photo opportunities.
• OOOST - The Great Butchers’, dating back to the 15th century, was originally a covered market.
• Kleine Vismarkt - In front of the Great Butcher’s Hall, there will be a brief stop at a traditional market stall where the seller will share information about Ghent’s famous candy, the cuberdon.
• St. Veerleplein - The final stop of the guided tour is Sint-Veerleplein Square, where the guide will explain the square’s history and surrounding buildings, and offer tips on the best souvenir shops. The guide will also remind everyone of the time and place to catch the bus back to Brussels.
