With mild weather and a mix of overcast and clear skies, it’s an ideal time to explore the city’s rich history and indulge in its world-famous chocolates and beers. From family-friendly tours to multicultural brewing experiences, this weekend promises a delightful adventure for all.
A Sweet Start to Your Brussels Adventure
Brussels, the heart of Belgium, is a city that effortlessly blends the old with the new, offering a rich tapestry of experiences for families. As you embark on your weekend journey, start with the Chocolate & Comics Tour, a delightful family-friendly walking tour that kicks off at 10:00 AM on June 14th. This tour is a perfect introduction to the city’s vibrant culture and history, especially for those traveling with children.
The tour takes you through the bustling streets and iconic landmarks such as the Zinneke Pis statue and the beautiful Église Saint-Nicolas. As you stroll through the opulent Galeries Saint-Hubert, you’ll marvel at the breathtaking Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour is not just about sightseeing; it’s an interactive experience with games and treasure hunts that keep the little ones engaged. And of course, no visit to Brussels is complete without indulging in its world-famous chocolates. The tour ends with priority access to the Choco-Story Museum, where you can explore the craft of Belgian chocolate making. A recent review from February 2025 highlights the tour’s appeal:
“We embarked as a family of 4 through Brussels. Our children are 8 and 9. Our excellent and knowledgeable guide was Christophe. He was very friendly and great with the children. The tour had something for us all. My children loved the Choco-Story museum at the end and the playground stop. My husband enjoyed the history and beer: I loved the history and knowledge and general sightseeing. Christophe took us at a good pace around and the lesser-known areas as well. We would very much recommend the tour and Christophe as a guide.” (Reviewed at: 2025-02-17)
Afternoon Brews and Cultural Views
After a morning of sweet indulgence, it’s time to explore another facet of Brussels’ rich cultural tapestry. The Beer Tasting Tour offers a unique glimpse into the city’s multicultural brewing scene. Available from 2:00 PM on June 14th, this tour is a must for beer enthusiasts and those curious about the brewing process.
The tour begins with a welcome drink and an introduction to the brewing process, which includes some unconventional ingredients like forest mushrooms and unsold bread. The brewery’s history is a testament to Belgium’s vibrant and contemporary beer culture, and you’ll learn about the diverse nationalities that contribute to this dynamic industry. The tour concludes with a tasting panel featuring three of the brewery’s latest beers, offering a delightful array of flavors. A review from April 2025 captures the essence of the experience:
“It’s okay, no more. The outside doesn’t look like it and the neighborhood surprised me. But once inside, the service is nice and the atmosphere is cool! We receive a welcome beer before the visit, which we have the right to choose from dozens of choices! Alcohol-free beers exist and others with a high alcohol content. The visit itself is somewhat disappointing because the place is not very clean and the young man leaves in all directions!! But it doesn’t matter because he’s friendly. A nice skewer of 4 beers at the end and 10% discount at the store. We also snacked on nachos…the beans were missing on it. The kitchen opens at 6pm. Good value for money for the whole experience!” (Reviewed at: 2025-04-07)
