Fantastic night! - This was amazing. I purchased this for my husband’s birthday. He & I love to learn about the history of the different places where we travel to. Romania has such an interesting and varied history. Catalina was our host and tour guide. Her knowledge brought all the exhibits to life. We learned so much and in the very best way, with personal stories as well as a wealth of knowledge she shared with us. There were no questions that weren’t answered. The food and drinks after the tour just tied everything together. A shout out to Luca for providing us with a great sampling of Romanian cuisine. They even gave my husband a birthday gift which was very special. The museum exhibits are powerful.

Not to be missed! - Very interesting, very engaging guide who was very entertaining and knew a lot about the modern history of her country. Highly recommended, if you want to know more about Romania under dictatorial communism.

An unforgettable experience - This was one the best experiences we've booked anywhere
We ended up being the only people on the tour that night, and had a very interesting tour with Katerina as our guide, who did a great job of explaining all the items and the history behind them
We then had an amazing dinner, which was much more than we expected. Traditional starters and mains, with delicious homemade style desserts
Katerina explained each food and taught us more about traditional foods and customs like Christmas meals
Katerina taught us more during the dinner, everything from Romainan wines to Vlad the Impaler and the Ottomans
She's one of the most knowledgeable people ever and I think you could ask her absolutely anything, and she'd be able to tell you. I'd love to visit the museum everyday and hear more from her!

A Must do Experience in Bucharest - This was a great experience. Our guide Alexandra took us on a journey back in time making the communist era of Romania truly come to life. The museum was set out like someone’s home during the years of Communism with lots of exhibits on display, giving us a real feel for how life was like. The best part of the tour was when we sat down in the living room where we were served a three course meal, typical of what people would have had in România during communist times. Alexandra joined us in the meal and was explaining all about the food and the traditions. So together with another couple who were also doing the your, the evening felt very much like enjoying a meal with friends in a relaxed homely setting. During the meal we were also served palinca (the traditional Romanian fruit brandy) and Romanian red wine. All in all it was a great experience which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bucharest and who is interested in experiencing what life was like during a very important time in Romanian and Eastern European history.

Great time and great guide - The tour was excellent! Rares really knew his stuff. Although I had a good idea about what Comunism was like, especially at the end in Romania, hearing from a knowledgeable individual that is from Romania was fascinating. The authentic Romanian food was very good as well. Highly recommend.

An immersion in the past - Museum extremely interesting and interactive, note of merit to the guide very helpful, clear and precise without ever boring. Also special dinner in an authentic communist living room with typical food of the time. 10/10, we will definitely be back!

Not to be missed - Absolutely excellent. Katerina was superb - her depth of knowledge and passion about the subject was second to none, and she was lovely and free with her time too.
The food was delicious - including some items made by her mum! There was also a lot of food, so no one was left hungry afterwards.
The museum was really interesting with lots of interactive elements.
I would highly recommend this, and would say it is not to be missed when visiting Bucharest.
Tip: make sure you let them know you are vegetarian in advance. Despite only being told a few hours in advance, they made sure the vegetarian choices were just as good as the meat ones.

So interesting - The information given during the tour was excellent and very interesting. It was even better as our tour guide gave us some personal examples of how communism had affected her parents and grandparents. We loved the sit down meal with the guide joining us and gave information about all the food we were eating. Excellent value for money and really felt like we had a good understanding of past Romanian life.
