• Poenari Citadel - Poenari Fortress is a historic landmark in Romania, majestically situated on a steep cliff in the Carpathian Mountains. Originally constructed in the 13th century and later fortified by Vlad the Impaler, it served as a crucial stronghold and defensive bastion. Renowned for its breathtaking views and ties to the Dracula legend, the fortress is reached by a challenging ascent of over 1,400 steps, providing visitors with a window into medieval history and folklore. The fortress is viewed from the outside.

• Vidraru Dam - Vidraru Dam and Lake, nestled in Romania’s Făgăraș Mountains, is an impressive feat of hydro-engineering completed in 1966. The curved arch dam, towering at 166 meters, forms Vidraru Lake, a tranquil reservoir encircled by lush forests and dramatic peaks. A favored spot for tourists, it offers stunning vistas, boating opportunities, and serves as an entryway to the Transfăgărășan Road.

• Transfagarasan Highway - The Transfăgărășan Highway, often hailed as one of the world’s most picturesque roads, meanders through Romania’s Făgăraș Mountains in the Carpathians. Constructed in the 1970s, this striking route features sharp hairpin bends, sweeping curves, and awe-inspiring views of rugged peaks, valleys, and waterfalls. A popular choice for road trips, it links Transylvania to Wallachia and showcases iconic landmarks like Bâlea Lake and Poenari Fortress along its path.

• Capra Waterfall - Capra Waterfall, situated in Romania near the Transfăgărășan Highway, is a breathtaking natural wonder. Plunging from a height of over 40 meters, this alpine waterfall is nourished by glacial waters and surrounded by lush greenery and rugged mountain scenery. Easily accessible during the summer months, it provides visitors with a refreshing stop, offering stunning views and the calming sound of rushing water.

• Bâlea Lake - Bâlea Lake is a glacial lake located at an elevation of about 2,000 meters (6,561 feet), making it one of the highest lakes in the country. The lake is celebrated for its stunning natural beauty, encircled by rugged peaks, dense forests, and alpine meadows. Bâlea Lake is accessible only during the summer and autumn months via the Transfăgărășan Highway. In winter and spring, it is inaccessible due to the risk of snow avalanches.

The journey begins in Bucharest at 7:45 a.m., with a coffee and snack break around 10:00 a.m., before heading to Poenari Fortress, a former strategic bastion of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Dracula. The fortress is perched atop a mountain and is not accessible inside, so it will be viewed from the outside.

Next, visit Vidraru Dam, a remarkable feat of Romanian engineering. Constructed in the 1960s, this impressive structure holds back the shimmering waters of Lake Vidraru.

The tour continues into the heart of the Făgăraș Mountains National Park.

A stop at the Capra Waterfall allows for appreciation of nature’s beauty and the breathtaking landscapes.

Finally, arrive at Bâlea Lake, situated at an altitude of over 2000 meters, where you can admire the renowned Top Gear Road, enjoy lunch, and relish the mountain scenery.

On the return journey to Bucharest, there will be another stop for coffee and snacks.

• This tour require a minimum of 2 passangers
• We will NOT visit the interior of Poenari Fortress, we will only see it from below - outside. To enter in Poenari Fortress you have to climb 66 floors on the stairs!
• You will meet our guide at 7:45 a.m. We suggest you come 5 minutes early. Being a group tour, we can not wait for you after the mentioned time.
• Please do not bring any food into the vehicle! We’ll see wild bears up close. If the car smells like food, we become a target for bears
