Great way to get around city - We were there for only 3 days so bought the Red Bus tickets to get around as 2 of us had mobility difficulties so it helped take the strain for us. We had ideas where we wanted to go and the bus took us there over the 72hrs we’d paid for. We also had the river boat tickets and did the evening river ride which was lovely to see the city in lights. The staff on the bus were helpful and pleasant.

Poor service - We were sold a three day ticket and advised that there was a red and green line tour. On the third day we tried to use the green line bus. When we arrived at the stop we were told it wasn’t running! No apology or offer of a refund. Nothing in the blurb to say it wouldn’t be running every day. Also, the boat tour was poor - no commentary. Just a ride up and down the main bit of the Danube.

Poor, would not do again. - Poor. Commentary was mostly Muzak, the short spoken descriptions of a few sights were I think a poor AI translation delivered in an unpleasant robot voice. They threw us off the bus after a few stops and made us get on another, which was already half full, so after waiting 10 minutes for the new bus to depart we had no seat and no commentary at all for the rest of the journey. The bus they threw us off was still working, but they said would be waiting for half an hour before it resumed the tour.

Where oh where is my Big Red Bus - The start at St Steven’s Church should be clearly stated that pick up is in back of the church! We were circling the church many times to find them and no one was around until 9:30, though it says online that it starts at 9:00. They say their stops are every 30 mins but it’s not on time. Very unreliable. Wish they have better signage for pick up spots. Today was very cold and their bus was very cold. Heater was on but very low because didn’t want to fog windows. Audio could have been better. I like the different languages that are offered but lacked history. At one point we had to change buses to the other tour bus line because our bus was taking a 30 minute break. Overall, was a good way to see city and get the lay of the land but they need some improvements.

Poor explanations and long waiting times - We did the tour with the Red Line several times. The explanations via headphones on the bus were poor. Nothing at all would be said about many sights, for example the Puskas football arena, which is approached without comment - even with a short stop. There is no question of hop on, hop off, because the waiting time for the next bus is indicated as 10-25 minutes, but usually takes at least 25 minutes. The only bright spot was that boat tours on the Danube were included in the price.

Disappointing HOHO bus - I have done other Hop on Hop off tours and generally find them to be a good way to get familiar with a big city. Compared to the other HOHO tours I’ve done, the bus in Budapest was disappointing. When we got on (after waiting a good while), we had to stand since the bus was completely full. After stopping for 10 minutes at the next stop, there was announcement that we would need to change buses. This led to a mass pushing and shoving to exit one bus and get on the replacement bus. Whenever we hopped off the bus, we had a lengthy wait to hop back on the bus. We did not pass the Buda Castle which was a surprise. The audio guide was not synced with the sights as we passed by. Also, the guide on the bus made frequent announcements that overpowered the audio guide. I would not recommend doing the Budapest Hop on Hop off tour.

Abysmal and a waste - Booked online after getting leaflet. Accent on green line to thick. Boat not included but that was very unclear Use public transport and ChatGPT and save a fortune! It was not clear the boat was no not not part of the ticket Exceptionally disappointing I shall be leaving a bad review Also the strong accent in the green route was impossible to understand Expensive for what it is

Choose the alternative - Currently sitting at the top of the very full bus in the heat waiting to move. Started on another bus but was offloaded because they were taking a break. Had to get on another bus and here we wait. Waiting for the robotic AI narrative to recommence. For the money they charged me for my ticket alone they could have afforded to pay someone to review and fix the AI narrative to correct the many mistakes. I do a hop-on-hop-off tour in most European cities that I visit. This has been the most expensive and the worst. Avoid it. Take the alternative.

Scam!! - Very poor bus trip. Purchased the boat tour too, which I was direct to the port where no boats turned up. Total scam! Save your money!
