Excellent food tour - Great food tour and Nick was great fun and very knowledgeable. We both took all his recommendations about where to eat after and it was a perfect way to set up our City break in Budapest.

Great tour! - This is a private tour. Andras is a very engaging host, and he also told us a lot about the history of Hungary. We went to two restaurants, a pastry shop, and made three stops within the Grand Market. All 6 stops were great.

Great guide, Disappointing Tour for the Price - This tour left a little more to be desired. First, let’s start with the positive: Gabor, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and full of historical information on the origins of each food or drink as well as the history of the food. He was great. The tour was originally meant to be a 2 hour food tour. Our tour was finished in 1 hour. We traveled to two places. At the second place, Gabor brought food and drink from other locations (cold chimney cake, Palinka and souvenir glasses, and a popular candy bar). We ate quickly, and felt slightly rushed. Traditionally, in our experience with prior food tours, part of the charm is visiting local spots, engaging with local merchants, and actually eating the food when it is freshly prepared and hot. The first stop was cafeteria-style with food that had been prepared and sitting for a time. On our second stop we had freshly prepared langos which was delicious. We came to find that the second stop was our only other stop. Gabor took cold chimney cake from his bag, as well as candy and palinka. I was hoping for a more rich experience and at the price point fo our tour (almost $100/person) I fell very let down. Again, Gabor was very nice but the locations chosen and the lack of freshly prepared food or experience made this a tour I will not recommend.

Not really a food tour - First off, our guide requested we start an hour after the set time, and even then, she was 15 minutes late. Then she spent a half hour just showing us places on a map. When we finally got food, it was at one restaurant, and she didn’t even discuss the food. We have been on many food tours, and the guide usually takes us to many places and we learn about the food, and have many samples of the local cuisine. This did not happen on this tour. One stop! And no discussion about the food in relation to the country. Our group was highly disappointed. It was an expensive tour and not worth it. The advertising for this tour said we would see a ruin bar and central market hall and Jewish quarter. This did not happen. This said it was an award winning private food tour. Really? I am respectfully requesting a refund. We have used Viator for many experiences in many countries and have never had such a bad experience.
