Stimulating guided tour - Judith has helped us interpret all the symbology that totalitarian regimes use to generate adherence, indoctrination, and collective purpose. There is no way out for the individual either you submit or the regimen submits. The result is political, economic and moral dismantling. I am sure that we will come up with conclusions with application to what we are living in Europe now. Very well invested hour and a half. The visit is in English. Judith shows great interest to know the family account that has come to us of the Spanish civil war.

Very addictive - Highly recommended the guided tour, so you can better understand what is in the park, the concept it represents and the idea behind its opening. It's all symbology and hidden secret meanings. Very interesting, the Ildi guide was super competent welcoming and professional, accompanied us enthusiastically and devoted a lot of time.

Strongly recommend the tour - It was such a pleasure to have joined the tour guided by Ildi. It was a very informative and interesting tour, probably the best thing I've done in Budapest. I strongly recommend that whoever is willing to visit Memento Park also doesn't miss the guided tour (public tour operated from Friday to Monday mornings). If your schedule doesn't fit the tour, there's a guidebook for sale. Without the explanation, they're just statues. I was so lucky to be the only one registered, so it ended up as a private tour. A big thanks again to Ildi. The tour was already overrun, but Ildi tried her best to tell me as much as she could. She not only explained the meaning and jokes behind the statues but also the park's design, insights you wouldn't get without the tour. I really enjoyed it. The cash desk lady was also very nice to me. The little souvenir shop sells authentic old postcards and pins. An overall very pleasant experience!

A valuable addition to truly thought-provoking exhibition - The guide was very pleasant and informative, providing a valuable perspective to the exhibition - I'm certain I would have missed a lot of detail by visiting Memento Park without the additional insight.

The guided tour enriched the experience - We are an American family traveling by car around Europe this summer. We enjoy learning the history of the places we travel. The private tour given by our tour guide, Ildi, at Memento Park truly enhanced our experience of this site. She is a teacher and she engagingly shared her depth of knowledge about the history of Hungary with us while we toured the Soviet Communist propaganda statues and memorials. We visited this site after visiting multiple historical sites in Budapest, which gave us a framework to appreciate how these statutes were utilized in this country. To get the most out of a visit to Memento Park it is worth purchasing the tour with your admission tickets. A worthwhile, informative and interesting experience that provoked us to think critically about the history and evolution of Hungary. We can enthusiastically recommend Ildi!

Magnificent tour - Memento Park was truly a highlight of my week in Budapest. The tour, led by Ildi (a high school teacher) provided just the right amount of historical context, intriguing details, and first-hand memories of growing up in the era where the these statues towered throughout Budapest. The park itself is a thought-provoking piece of art designed to provoke discussion about democracy and authoritarianism. It is a bit complicated to get to on public transportation, but well worth the effort.

Excellent experience - Although the park is on the outskirts of Budapest, it is definitely worth the short trip out. We went on the guided tour, really good value. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and was clearly passionate about the subject, giving insight into the statues. A highly recommended experience.

Excellent experience - Brilliant. Great to see the socialist monuments that were suddenly out of favour after 1989. The guided tour was top notch, very informative, very objective. The tour guide is really good at her job, very friendly and answered lots of questions with details and also big picture answers.

Your guide is necessary for a good experience - In my opinion, this place would not be a very great experience without a tour guide. Having a tour guide explain everything and walk you through need a huge difference! Our guide was really wonderful and I am really grateful we were able to schedule this!

Fantastic experience - We took part in a guided tour of momento park and I highly recommend it. There was a small group of us and our tour guide Judit was fantastic. You can visit the park without a tour, but the benefit of having a tour guide was so we could experience the lived history. We learnt so much about Hungary under communism, the failed rebellion and life after that time. The people of Budapest decided to keep the statues from that time to tell the stories from then. Having the guided tour enabled us to learn so much. It’s an extremely well worthwhile experience and was probably our favourite thing we did in Budapest.
