Knife experience - The gym is in the suburbs, the guide will transfer to the hotel door, convenient. The knight master and guide were very kind, introducing little knowledge of the equipment used, the structure and characteristics of the knives, as well as how to speak the Nepali language of these devices. First contact with forging, experience the process of grinding and grinding, see the iron sheet gradually shaped into a knife, a very special experience.

Nepalese Kukuri Workshop with Swayam Simkhada - Very fun from start to finish. I enjoyed being able to help make the blade. And I got a beautiful knife. From a very skilled artesian. Using just the basic of tools. Swayam was the best guide. Friendly, open and personable. Very knowledgeable of historic events and like all Nepalese a hard worker. If you are taking this tour, try to get Swayam Simkhada as a guide.

A beautiful knife crafted from truck suspension springs and a block of wood - This tour was about 4.5 hours long and in the end I had a beautiful, shiny, perfectly crafted Khukri. Namrata met me at my hotel in Thamel and we took a taxi to the workshop. She explained that this tour included a 6 inch knife so that it's legal in most countries. For an additional fee, you can upgrade to 8, 9, or 10 inch knives. On arrival we meet the craftsman and his son and they get you involved in many steps of the process. You get to hammer the heated raw metal to cut it to size and then to shape the basic form. Then you get to do the initial grinding as the blade starts to take shape. He and his son take over once it impacts the quality of the knife. The workshop is run by a true craftsman who cares so much about his end product. Throughout the process, he sometimes would make the harder choice to make sure the knife and scabbard were perfect. For example, he rebuilt a scabbard because it wasn't good enough for him. I'm so impressed by their skill. Namrata brought the experience over the top by being an attentive host and translator. My favorite experience in Nepal for sure. Don't miss it.

One of the absolute highlights of our time in Kathmandu! - Our family of six did the Khukuri knife-making workshop in Kathmandu and each of us came away with a beautiful, hand-forged knife we made ourselves — sharper, stronger, and far more meaningful than anything you'd pick up in Thamel. Even better, the knives are made from recycled high-carbon spring steel — taken from old vehicle suspension systems — giving them not only incredible strength and edge retention, but a great story behind the blade. The experience was hands-on, authentic, and a lot of fun. Booking was easy — I emailed Namrata at I Experience Nepal, and she took care of everything smoothly and professionally. Highly recommend this unique and memorable experience — especially if you want to take home something practical, personal, and very cool.

A highlight of my Trip to Nepal - This was an awesome experience and I'm very happy I did it! Being a part of making a Khukuri was way better than just buying one from a store. Indra and Prashant were awesome, enthusiastic and great at what they do and Namrata was a great host and interpreter. I highly recommend this to anyone!

A 100% must do activity! - An incredible experience!! I went on my own with Swayam as my guide. Swayam was very knowledgeable, easy to get along with and spoke amazing English. He talked me through every step of the process so I understood what was going on and made sure I got some great photos and videos. The experts making the knife have been doing it for +40 years and you can really tell! I especially enjoyed the parts I was able to help with. I would 100% recommend this as a morning activity for anyone visiting Kathmandu. A once on a life time experience and you get your own personalised blade at the end!! Awesome.
