- Cementerio de la Recoleta - The stunning sculptures in Recoleta Cemetery reflect the rich history of this beautiful nation. Many of Argentina’s most influential and controversial figures are laid to rest here, including the renowned first lady, Evita. Discover the secrets and stories behind the sculptures. This private tour will guide you to the most beautiful and often overlooked works. This historic cemetery is a ‘must-see’. Note that the entrance fee of approximately $15 USD is included in the tour price.
- Plaza General San Martin - Plaza San Martin offers 360-degree views of historical and architectural excellence, featuring the Retiro train station, the British Tower, the Kavanagh Building, and the Palacios San Martin and Paz.
- Obelisco - Enjoy a short drive along the world’s widest and one of the most picturesque streets, Avenida 9 de Julio. We stop in the heart of Buenos Aires’ version of ‘Times Square’ at the iconic Obelisco. Buenos Aires is consistently ranked among the top 5 cities worldwide for live theatre, and here you will see that on full display, with the beautiful Teatro Colón and numerous Broadway-style theatres all around.
- Plaza de Mayo - The highly photogenic Plaza de Mayo is home to the ‘Pink House’ (Argentina’s version of the ‘White House’), the national Cathedral (where Pope Francis once worked!), the Cabildo (Argentina’s first government building when it was a Spanish colony), plus many other exquisite and historical buildings.
- San Telmo - The pavement of the City Centre transitions to the cobblestones of San Telmo, indicating entry into some of the city’s oldest parts. In Buenos Aires’ early days, San Telmo housed the city’s wealthiest families. A series of yellow fever epidemics prompted the wealthy to relocate to the city’s outskirts (now Recoleta and Retiro), leading to San Telmo’s decline. Artists and the working class soon moved into the mansions, transforming the neighborhood into a beloved bohemian haven for antiques, tango, cafes, bars, and restaurants, as well as the famous San Telmo Street Market held every Sunday.
- La Boca - Our final stop is the country’s original port, La Boca. Although the port closed in the 1960s, this area remains vibrant, known for its colorful streets filled with tango, art, and fútbol (soccer!). La Boca’s rich history is alive in the many conventillos (tenement housing for the old port’s labor force) now converted into cafes, parrillas (steakhouses), and souvenir shops. La Boca is a fantastic place to see street tango, purchase a keepsake or two, and appreciate one of Argentina’s greatest painters, Benito Quinquela MartÃn, who revitalized the neighborhood by transforming it into one of the country’s most iconic tourist destinations.
