- San Antonio de Areco - Explore a traditional silversmith’s workshop, where talented artisans create beautiful items like mates and belt buckles, keeping gaucho traditions alive. Following this, a visit to a local chocolate shop offers a delightful contrast. These brief stops highlight Areco’s enduring craftsmanship and delicious local specialties.
- Parroquia San Antonio de Padua - Situated on Segundo Sombra Street, between Alsina and Arrellano. Don José Ruiz de Arellano established the first oratory at the heart of his estate. This oratory’s foundation was crucial for the town’s development. Between 1720 and 1728, the first chapel was constructed, slightly to the right of the current location. The foundation stone of the present church was laid on February 7, 1869, and was buried beneath the central entrance. Inside, a lead box containing original records on parchment, newspapers of the day, medals, and coins was placed.
- Boliche de Bessonart Bar - At the intersection of Don Segundo Sombra and Zapiola streets, a quaint house with peeling walls stands. This is the grocery and drinks store where peasants and country folk, who came to town for supplies and errands at the cereal house, store, doctor, and bank, used to gather. Don Segundo RamÃrez, the gaucho who inspired a character in Ricardo Güiraldes’ novel, frequented this spot. Today, it remains a popular meeting place with a rich history of local countryside characters.
- San Antonio de Areco - Head to the Estancia, where you can enjoy horseback riding or a carriage ride while savoring traditional cold cuts, cheeses, and beverages. Then, indulge in a classic Argentinian barbecue featuring the finest meats. As you enjoy dessert, watch a folklore show followed by a display of gaucho skills.
