• Pyramids of Giza - Begin your day at 8:00 am with a convenient hotel pickup in Cairo or Giza by a knowledgeable tour guide. You’ll be transported to the Giza Pyramids to embark on a half-day tour, visiting the iconic Great Pyramids - Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos.
• Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - The Great Pyramid, serving as the tomb of King Khufu (c.2589–2566 BC), originally stood at 146.5 meters, making it the tallest structure globally for 3,800 years. It is the only remaining wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and took an estimated 10 to 20 years to construct. The exact methods of its construction remain a mystery.

The pyramid is constructed from local limestone, with its exterior once fully covered in high-quality limestone from Turah, south of Maadi, transported by ship. Inside, it features three chambers, one carved into the bedrock below and two high within the masonry, a unique feature among pyramids. The sarcophagus of Khufu is still present in the upper chamber, known as the King’s Chamber, accessible via the Grand Gallery, a stunning corbelled ascending passage and a marvel of ancient engineering and architecture.

• Pyramid of Khafre - Khafre (c.2558–2532 BC), known to the ancient Greeks as Khefren, was the son of King Khufu, the builder of the Great Pyramid. He constructed the second pyramid complex at Giza, positioning his tomb on slightly higher ground, giving it the appearance of equal height to his father’s. Standing at 143.5 meters, it is slightly shorter but equally impressive. The core is made of local limestone blocks, and the top still retains the polished limestone blocks that once covered most of the structure. This white stone was quarried in Turah and transported by ship.
• Pyramid of Menkaure - Menkaure (known as Mykerinos to the ancient Greeks; c.2532–2503 BC) built the third and smallest of the large Giza Pyramids. Likely the son of Khafre and grandson of Khufu, his pyramid has a base area less than a quarter of the others and an original height of 65 meters. The smaller size is due to limited space on the Giza Plateau and the use of granite for the outer casing, unlike his predecessors who used limestone. Granite, quarried in Aswan over 800 km away, is harder to transport and work with, so only the bottom quarter of the casing stones are granite, with the rest being limestone.
• Giza Plateau - The Giza Plateau is a limestone plateau in Giza, Egypt, home to the Fourth Dynasty Giza pyramid complex, including the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers’ village, and an industrial complex. It is the northernmost part of the 16,000 ha Pyramid Fields on the Western Desert edge of the Nile Valley, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Memphis and its Necropolis.

The plateau is approximately 60 meters above sea level.
