Our lessons are crafted to allow you to learn surfing at your own pace in a relaxed setting, enhancing your self-confidence so you can continue enjoying the sport and feel assured in the water.
You will be taught surfing techniques and ocean safety by our qualified surf coaches and surf life savers. All instructors possess extensive knowledge of the local area and will conduct lessons only in waist-deep water with gentle, easy-to-ride waves during your initial lesson.
At Soul Surf School, we offer lessons to adults, families, couples, groups, and children aged 5 and above.
If you are an INTERMEDIATE or ADVANCED surfer and/or wish to have the lesson customized to your specific needs, please contact us for further guidance.
Intermediate: can confidently paddle out through waves and catch their own waves on a 7’2 board or smaller.

Participating in group lessons with Soul Surf School offers an excellent opportunity to surf some of the world-renowned breaks in a group environment. There are several beaches to choose from in the Byron/Lennox/Ballina region, and the team is committed to finding the most enjoyable and safest waves each day.
The school maintains the lowest instructor-to-surfer ratio in the area, with 1:7 for adults and 1:4 for children, ensuring that every surfer receives ample attention and personalized feedback, while ensuring the safety of all young surfers in the water.
The school provides a wide selection of equipment, including over 80 fun, safe soft surfboards, as well as intermediate to advanced boards, designed to help learners progress quickly and catch numerous waves.
The minimum age requirement is 13 years old.
