Super fun and helpful... - Super fun and helpful surf lesson! We never surfed before and our surf coach was so patient with us and explained and helped whenever possible. All around super day with lots of fun. Definitely recommend!

Amazing and affordable first surfing experience - We first had some starting problems because the waves were a little rough that day and Terry was trying to find a spot thats safe but also not too lame. In the end he picked a good spot and we had a "eindrucksvoll, großartig" (great) experience for a far lower price than the other surfing school we had found online. Ollie was also really nice and a big help! Would book it again any time and definetly recommend it.

Terry is the best. - Terry was awesome, after half an hour I was able to surf without getting pushed. Also awesome spot, and a reallly funny and friendly guy!

Do not bother - This activity has been nothing short of a hot mess and a waste of my day. It was unorganized, unprofessional, and unsanitary. The equipment was poor quality, the van for transportation was in really bad shape with broken seat belts, and the water we were taken to was brown. Our trip was supposed to start at 10 but got moved to 12 in which we didn’t actually start until 2pm. We only "surfed" for under 1.5 hours.... in practically a lake. We had to carry our boards very far plus swim them out very far to be in the absolute middle of a body of water with no waves; we would have been better off paddle-boarding instead. The guides were incredibly rude and far from understanding of our concerns. They also did not explain how to properly surf at all. The weather caused us to be relocated to this spot since it was too rough to surf which was understandable, but instead of cancelling all together, they insisted on going here when we had requested to just go back home. Although this was low cost, the guides primary concern was getting our money and it showed; I guess you get what you pay for. I would not advise this trip, pay a little more and go somewhere else or don’t go surfing at all. Waste of a day, would have rather been enjoying my time doing anything else.

Not the best experience - I booked the surf lesson the day before as I had limited time in Byron Bay and was keen to surf there due to its reputation. I got called twice the day before the lesson, one after I booked and once at 7pm to confirm the same thing. Got told the class would be at 12pm not 10am which was later than I wanted but fine. Arrived at his house and waited a while for them to get ready before we could actually leave. Got in their car and had to drive for an over an hour to 4 different spots and didn’t start surfing until 2pm. The whole time the guide was repeatedly telling us that it wasn’t his fault. I feel it would have made more sense if the conditions hadn’t been right to have cancelled the lesson and rebooked us another time. We ended up in a river in Ballina. Once we found a spot they gave a rushed example of how to stand on a board and seemed frustrated when we weren’t doing it quickly, even telling us that he was getting frustrated now. Not taking into account that most of us were beginners - it’s a beginners class. Two of the girls tried to have a conversation with them to let them know the experience wasn’t what they expected, just to be told they were wrong. One of the girls felt too uncomfortable to participate and the guide argued with the other for the whole lesson - even once telling one girl he was pissed off with her for bringing up her concerns. The guide tried to talk about the girl to me as well which made me uncomfortable. The spot picked barely had any waves - we did all stand from the beginning because the guided pushed the boards for us but the waves were so small and there was no other progression. All the instructors were spitting in the water the whole time. Then we were rushed back because 2 of the guides needed to go to work. The car we came in had 2 seatbelts that didn’t work which I did bring up but was told it did work, so had to ride with no seatbelt on. My seatbelt might have had a buckle but I couldn’t find it and was not helped. The driver also was on his phone whilst he was driving, and took both hands off the wheel to eat as well. Overall just unorganised, and an uncomfortable environment with the instructors. They were constantly telling us we were having a good time which I feel was an effort to convince us. Whilst I understand some things are out of their control, e.g. the weather and wave conditions, I feel like it should be standard to find the right location for the lesson beforehand in the morning, or if that’s not possible (like I’ve said before) cancel and rebook. Wouldn’t recommend this tour unfortunately, which is really disappointing because I had such high hopes. I have noticed when other people tell the truth in their reviews they also seem to get a defensive and negative response on here which i think demonstrates perfectly everything about the attitude we put up with on the day.
