Excellent tour - This day tour will give you a great taste of South Wales. Nash Point and Dunraven Bay had some stunning views that made for lovely walks. Ogmore Castle is a quick stop and rightly so - it's a ruin and just a couple of boards to read. Caerphilly Castle was mostly closed for renovations (supposedly to reopen by the summer), but what we did see was very striking. However, I'm afraid Scotland and England's castles are much more impressive and intact than any I have now seen in Wales (Cardiff Castle included) - Edinburgh and Culzean to name just a couple. The best stop was definitely St. Fagans National Museum of History - I've been to many museums and this was very unique. We spent 2 hours there, and I managed to view most of the buildings by walking briskly through the park, though you could easily spend half a day or a whole day taking it in at a more leisurely pace and stop for a picnic. Max, our guide, was fab - friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He kept up an interesting commentary on Wales' history and culture as he drove us between stops. I came on the tour alone but didn't feel lonely as Max (and the other passengers) were happy to chat. Thankfully the weather was good and the rain held off until the very end of the day - definitely a tour where you need to bring warm and waterproof clothing, with good walking shoes. I think the only disappointing thing about the day was we weren't able to enter Castell Coch as we'd arrived after the last admission time (30 mins before closing). But to be fair, I looked back at the itinerary and this stop wasn't listed, so maybe we just had enough time left that Max took us for a quick look round the outside - I'm not certain. The pickup point was easy to find and the bottled water available in the minibus was appreciated. I would certainly recommend this tour. Much better than driving yourself around to each place.
