• San Benedetto Market - Begin your day at the renowned San Benedetto Market, the largest city market in Europe! Covering two floors and 8,000 square meters, it offers fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, cheese, and a variety of other products. Whether you make a purchase or not, you’ll enjoy browsing the vibrant colors and aromas of over 240 stalls.
• Poetto - What would a day on an island be without some beach time? Your next stop is Poetto Beach, one of the island’s most stunning beaches, loved by both locals and visitors. Stroll along the sandy shore, taking in the views of the beautiful waters and colorful casotti (wooden structures by the sea). You might even enjoy some entertainment from the traditional baretti, kiosks offering food and drinks for purchase. Your guide will provide plenty of information about the city, island, and the history behind all the highlights.
• Quartiere Castello - A visit to Cagliari isn’t complete without exploring the old town’s famous areas and three of its four historic districts. See Cagliari through a local’s eyes as your guide leads you through the central historic district of Castello, or “castle.” Sardinia is rich in ancient history, and Castello is a prime example. Still partially enclosed by bastioned walls and two medieval towers, it is the city’s old fortification atop a hill overlooking Angels’ Gulf.
  In addition to the numerous beautiful churches and streets lined with restaurants and shops, your knowledgeable guide will share stories of Cagliari’s past during your 1.5-hour walk.

• Cattedrale di Santa Cecilia - Built in the 13th century in the Pisan-Romanesque style, it later evolved into Gothic, Baroque, and Neo-Romanesque styles. Beneath the presbytery, the Crypt-Sanctuary preserves the relics of local Martyrs. With a Latin cross plan, the church’s interior features three naves with a transept and side chapels. On the right side, in the Aragonese Chapel, a precious relic is preserved, believed to be part of Jesus’ crown, which arrived in Cagliari in 1527, along with other relics and artworks taken from various churches in Rome and the Papal apartment. Just before reaching the harbor, the ship encountered a storm. Someone aware of the precious cargo, convinced that the storm was divine wrath for sacrilegious theft, confessed to some religious figures on the ship, who, upon arrival in Cagliari, informed the archbishop of the events.

• If the tour starts late or encounters delays, for any reason, we will shorten the tour to return our guest to the cruise port by the scheduled time. There are no critical portions of the tour operated by third parties which could result in the inability to return to port on time.
