Highlights
- Nuraghe Piscu - On the drive (about 50 minutes) to the wild horses we pass the Nuraghe Piscu. If time permits and all participants agree, we will stop here for a short tour.
- Giara di Gesturi - We drive to the fantastic volcanic plateau to watch the fantastic wild horses. We leave the car near the large basalt lake and take a relaxing walk….

- Giara di Gesturi - We drive to the fantastic volcanic plateau to watch the fantastic wild horses. We leave the car near the large basalt lake and take a relaxing walk. You will not only experience breathtaking landscapes, beautiful cork forests, exotic plants and extraordinary scents, but also filled with lots of information about the country, people, lifestyle, nature, wildlife and history.
- Domu de janas “Sa domu ‘e s’Orcu” - We visit a Stone-Copper Age burial site dating from 3800-3200 BC. was carved into the rock.
- Turri - On the way back (approx. 40 min) to Cagliari we drive through the village of Turri, known for ancient olive trees and saffron production.
- Villamar - We stop in Villamar’s piazza for a cappuccino. The piazza is decorated with great murals that tell of the history of Sardinia and important Sardinians.

Worthwhile - Very informative tour into the beautiful landscape of South Sardinia. In a small group we were driven to a few interesting points of the island. For us it was one of the best tours we have ever booked.

Breathtaking Trip - Highly Recommended - Fabulous trip. We were met on time and our guide Dirk was very courteous. He is multilingual and his communication skills were excellent, sharing his extensive knowledge of the area, it's flora, fauna and history freely. The vehicle was spacious and comfortable and good driving skills.
En route we visited Nuraghe Piscu, an ancient megalithic structure surrounded by a breathtaking array of wild flowers as far as the eye can see.
We then proceeded to the volcanic plateau. It is like a prehistoric area that time forgot. The natural scenes were out of this world and we saw the wild horses and lake. It was an unforgettable day and better than we could have ever imagined.

Escape from the city to see beautiful nature - My friends and I really enjoyed this excursion. The scenery was really pretty and so peaceful and we loved seeing the horses. It was really nice to get out of the city and see some of Sardinia’s beautiful nature.

Once in Sardinia… - Our trip was amazing and very instructive. The guide is very friendly and (positively) talkative. We saw this gorgeous wild (and free of tourists!) green area - a little paradise with hearth-breaking landscapes and outstanding views.
It was a real opportunity to discover another face of Sardinia : wild, calm and natural.
And the guide explained us everything and showed us some beautiful corners that we probably couldn’t have found by ourselves. We’d be glad to have another trip with him!

Wild horses on the Giara di Gesturi plateau - Excellent! Dirk was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We not only got to see the Giara horses, but he shared a lot about the plants, other animals, and the history of the area. We also stopped at a Domus de Janas (Fairy House), a pre-Nuragic chamber tomb cut into the rocks, and the village of Villamar, which has multiple murals. Highly recommend.

A magical excursion into Sardinian nature & wildlife - We were looking for a trip to see as much of Sardinia as possible and decided to go on the half-day trip to the wild horses of Giara di Gesturi.
We drove across the island in a perfectly air-conditioned minibus and got just the right amount of interesting information about the country and people. Our great guide Dirk has lived on the island for a long time, is German and guided us through nature in the area where the horses live protected.
It was a pleasure to experience the different plants and smells of the flowers and impressions!
Besides us, there was a woman from Sicily on the tour and Dirk spoke Italian and German alternately. That was totally pleasant, we laughed a lot had a lot of fun!
The crowning glory was that we were able to get very close to the horses.
What a great trip!
The whole process and organization was perfect, fast, professional and very friendly.
An absolute recommendation!
See you again, on our next visit to Sardinia!

Lovely experience in nature - Lovely experience. Dirk is very knowledgeable and knows his way around very well. The Van was comfortable and airconditioned. Took us to some beautiful landmarks and we managed to see some wild horses and plenty of fauna. Definitely recommended.

Beautiful nature of Sardinia - The island has more than just beautiful beaches to offer - We had a great day trip with lots of nature and history of Sardinia. The information was interesting and not overloaded. Dirk is a relaxed guide who loves his island and likes to share a lot of insider knowledge.
