Huge tunnel under the aquarium is amazing! - Buying the ticket via Tripadvisor is a breeze and I also used Tripadvisor cash so it was a great value to it. The amazing tunnel under the big aquarium takes you to a world of wonder. It feels like you are in the water and watching all the creatures were swimming by without getting in the water. Watching penguins swimming doesn’t get you bored. No dolphin show or seal shows so it takes a few hours there, enjoy lunch at the restaurant inside and go another activity elsewhere. Good activity on rainy day.

A very hood way to spend a couple of hours - We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Although it did seem a little pricey, it was definitely worth it. The one way system meant we didn’t miss anything.

We're taking it easy - I found this aquarium beautiful. The different parts are each more incredible than the other. We're taking a lot of eyes. All this multitude of colors, all these varieties of different species. I loved it.

Only 1 Day in Cairns? Visit the Aquarium! - We visited the Cairns Aquarium while in port and were so impressed with the experience. It was fascinating to see all the amazing creatures that also call Queensland home. The staff were so enthusiastic and knowledgeable that we spent 3 hours there and did three of the educational shows but could have stayed all day! It is a must visit for all Aussies as well as overseas visitors and caters to all age groups.

Great alternative - Due to a monsoon, we weren't able to travel to the Great Barrier Reef. We went to the aquarium instead and got to see a lot of the creatures we would have seen, so we were greatful for that.

Overall, not bad - quick to get through. - Cairns Aquarium was okay. It only took us an hour to get through the whole place, which felt pretty quick for what we were expecting considering the price. We had pre-booked tickets, but still had to line up for about 30 minutes to get in, which was frustrating. There were four counters open, but only one staff member handling pre-booked tickets, so it kind of defeated the purpose of booking ahead. Inside, it was nice enough, Lizards were a highlight, but we were expecting more tropical fish and something a bit more unique given it’s on the Great Barrier Reef doorstep, but it honestly felt pretty similar to most other aquariums.
