Booking process deceptive , resort staffunpl - Booking via trip advisor and with the the resort boat is a very bad idea. What is offered is not given. I booked a full day snorkeling trip for 2, including snorkeling gears . When booking, the description of snorkeling gear includes stinger suits. They advertise a full day enjoyed on the island ( departing 8 am returning 5 pm) . In reality:You arrive on the island at 8h45, but the gear shop only open at 9h15. Once open, we all queued to get our gear. When collecting mine, the staff told me I have to pay for stinger suits, $34 ( 15x2+ Sunday surcharge $4).I explained that I had already paid, and showed the screenshot with the description of the snorkeling gears including stinger suit, when booking). The staff said it was not included on their computer and they could do nothing from their side. I could speak to reception. She added in an unpleasant voice: without a stingers suit you might just die out there because there are things which kill you. I paid (again)the suits and we went snorkeling, it was already 10 am. We left our stuff in the lockers($ 12 for 8 hours). We were unlucky with weather, snorkeling visibility was nil. We saw some fishes and a turtle, in murcky water as ocean was agitated and it was raining on and off. Coral were all dead. We then ate our food, we brought our own picnic which was an excellent idea. I went to reception to try to sort out my issue, but she could not help either as it was booked through a third party. We then walked to the summit which was nice. We then try again a bit of snorkeling, and had to promptly give our gears back as gear shop closes at 4 pm. As we had some spare time before our return boat, we quick walked to nuddey beach to have a look, pretty! Another reason I would not book with the resort again: A couple of days, prior, I went to their office in Cairns, next to the fleet terminal to check my bookings, as trip advisor email mentioned tickets but I only had a booking number. The Fitzroy resort office door sign said open and lights were on but the door was locked and no one to be seen. I tried to call multiple times their numbers, they are not picking up, line just go dead. I went to all the other desks in the fleet terminal, which were all open, they try to help me but could not do much as I was booked on the Fitzroy flyer boat ( Fitzroy resort). On the resort, the day tripper toilets are appalling, doors are broken, and dirty. There are no changing room. One toilet was not accessible as not able to open the broken door. Only 4 toilets left, people use them as changing room, as no other space available to change. On the island, I spoke with another tourist who had booked with another company, via " get my guide" ( I think). She came on a boat called "Fitzroy Island tour" They all get their gears while on the boat, which means they can really enjoy the island snorkeling ( when good weather) straight away and all the way to the end of day .She said she paid $100, all inclusive trip, snorkeling gears and stinger suit.Good deal! Ps I end up paying $initial 258 + 34 = $292 ( for 2 people). In retrospective, next time I would book directly in the fleet terminal , as I found that all the counters had pleasant staff, and my options would be much clearer , plus the weather would be known! Also there was no need to book in advance. Hope this review will help you!
