Pyramids, Sakkara & Memphis
Pyramids of Giza - A guide will accompany visitors in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza Plateau to witness one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramid, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops, is the oldest of the three pyramids, dating back to around 2600 B.C. It held the title of the world’s tallest building for 3,800 years until Lincoln Cathedral was constructed in 1311 AD in England. Seeing the Pyramids of Giza in person is an unparalleled experience, and the guide will point out the best spots for photos.
Pyramid of Khafre - Visitors will also explore the rest of the Giza Plateau, including the Pyramid of Chephren, son of King Khufu. It is the second-largest pyramid on the plateau, followed by the Pyramid of Menkaure, the smallest of the three. The Great Sphinx of Giza proudly guards them all.
Memphis and Sakkara - The Sakkara necropolis, located about 15 kilometers south of the Pyramids of Giza, contains tombs from nearly every period of Egyptian history. Sakkara has gained attention for recent archaeological discoveries. Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, was founded by King Menes, also known as King Narmer, the founder of the first dynasty in 3300 B.C.
Step Pyramid of Djoser - The most prominent landmark in the Sakkara Complex is the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, the first pyramid ever constructed, dating back to 3000 B.C.
