The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - The Grand Egyptian Museum, located on the Giza Plateau just two kilometers from the Pyramids, is a monumental, state-of-the-art archaeological museum. It is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, Ancient Egypt, and is designed to house over 100,000 artifacts.
Its most renowned feature is the first-ever complete display of the entire King Tutankhamun collection—over 5,000 treasures—together for the first time since their discovery. Other highlights include the colossal Statue of Ramses II in the Grand Atrium and the magnificent Grand Staircase lined with large-scale royal and divine statues.
The museum’s modern architecture features a stunning translucent façade and offers panoramic views of the Giza Pyramids, connecting its contents directly to their ancient setting.
Fly to Aswan - Overnight in Aswan
Day Trip to Abu Simbel and the Nubian Village
Abu Simbel - An early visit to Abu Simbel from Aswan by private car.
Abu Simbel temples:
The two temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari were carved out of the mountain on the west bank of the Nile between 1264 and 1244 B.C. The Great Temple was dedicated to Ramses II, Ra-Harakhty, Amun Ra, and Ptah, with four colossal statues. The second temple was dedicated to Queen Nefertari and Goddess Hathor. The two temples were dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt on higher ground. The preservation of the two temples of Abu Simbel is considered one of UNESCO’s greatest achievements.
Return to Aswan by the afternoon, with lunch served in Aswan.
Aswan Attractions Then Drive to Luxor
Philae - Visits in Aswan include the Temple of Philae and a tour by felucca around Elephantine, the high dam, and the Unfinished Obelisk.
Philae Temple:
Built to honor the goddess Isis, this was the last temple built in the classical Egyptian style. Construction began around 690 BC, and it was one of the last outposts where the goddess was worshipped.
Aswan High Dam - The Aswan High Dam is a rock-fill dam located at the northern border between Egypt and Sudan. The dam is fed by the River Nile, and the reservoir forms Lake Nasser. Construction began in 1960 and was completed in 1966. It was officially inaugurated in 1961.
Unfinished Obelisk - Aswan was the source of ancient Egypt’s finest granite, used to make statues and embellish temples, pyramids, and obelisks. The large unfinished obelisk in the Northern Quarries has provided valuable insight into how these monuments were created, although the full construction process is still not entirely clear. Three sides of the shaft, nearly 42 meters long, were completed except for the inscriptions. At 1166 tonnes, the completed obelisk would have been the single heaviest piece of stone the Egyptians ever fashioned.
Drive to Luxor - Overnight in Luxor
The Valley of the Kings
Valley of the Kings - Guests will be picked up from their hotel in Luxor to start their tour of the ancient city. Accompanied by a private tour guide, they will begin by visiting the famous historical site, the Valley of the Kings.
Visitors will cross the Nile to explore some of the most spectacular highlights of Luxor’s fabled West Bank with their private tour guide. They will visit the Valley of the Kings and explore three tombs.
The final resting place of Egypt’s rulers from the 16th to the 20th dynasty, it is home to tombs including those of the great Pharaoh Ramses II and the boy Pharaoh Tutankhamun. The tombs were well stocked with all the material goods a ruler might need in the next world. Most of the decoration inside the tombs is still well preserved.
For those wishing to visit the Tomb of the young Pharaoh Tutankhamun, it costs an additional 200 Egyptian Pounds.
Temple of Hatshepsut - The Temple of Hatshepsut is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved temples of Ancient Egypt found in Luxor. The temple was built on three levels with two wide ramps in a central position joining the levels together. Rising out of the desert plain in a series of terraces, the Temple of Hatshepsut merges with the sheer limestone cliffs of the eastern face of the Theban Mountain as if nature herself had built this extraordinary monument.
Colossi of Memnon - The Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues of King Amenhotep III, the only remains of a complete mortuary temple. The statues are made from blocks of quartzite sandstone that were originally in Cairo and then moved 600 kilometers to Luxor. Known as the Colossi of Memnon, they rise about 16 meters from the plain and are the remains of what was once the largest complex on the west bank, built by Amenhotep III. Around noon, lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Luxor.
The afternoon is free.
Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple
Karnak Open Air Museum - After breakfast, guests will visit the Temple of Karnak, the largest ancient religious site known anywhere in the world.
