- Cairo Citadel - After being picked up from your designated location in Cairo, the journey will begin towards the historic heart of one of Africa’s largest cities.
The first destination is the Cairo Citadel, a vast medieval fortress renowned as the city’s most famous non-ancient landmark. Inside, visitors will admire the exquisitely adorned Mohamed Ali Mosque, often referred to as the alabaster mosque due to its construction from soft white stone.
This tour will delve into Cairo’s historic center, showcasing its essential attractions: the Cairo Citadel, the Mohamed Ali Mosque, the Khan el-Khalili market, and the Egyptian Museum, home to the tomb of Tutankhamun.
- Khan Al-Khalili - Departing from the fortress, the next stop is the Khan el-Khalili market, Cairo’s most renowned market, with its maze-like streets resembling an open-air museum. Khan el-Khalili is an ideal spot for purchasing souvenirs and replicas of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
After exploring the market, there will be a break for a meal featuring a variety of salads and a main dish served with rice and vegetables. Dessert will be a refreshing fruit salad.
- The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - In the afternoon, approximately an hour and a half will be spent at the Egyptian Museum, considered the most significant museum not only in the country but possibly worldwide. It houses masterpieces from the ancient era, with the legendary treasures of Tutankhamun as the highlight.
- Coptic Cairo - The tour will pass through Coptic Cairo, one of the city’s most distinctive neighborhoods, visiting Al-Muallaqa, also known as the hanging church, built upon the ruins of the Babylon tower. To conclude, the tour will visit the church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, also known as the cave church, where the holy family sought refuge after fleeing to Egypt.
This memorable sightseeing adventure will conclude back at your hotel approximately 8 hours after pickup, having explored Cairo’s most significant points of interest.
