EXTRAORDINARY GLIMPSE OF ANCIENT EGYPT: - am privileged to have had the opportunity of a lifetime to visit the Great Egyptian Museum. The Museum is an architectural marvel inspired by a Japanese architect, giving it lots of light and clean lines. It is large and one does not feel crowded in. The pieces of history are breath taking from King Tuts gold mask to the 4000 yr old boat of King Khufu - displayed in the mighty splendour of intact Lebanese cedar. One can't help but relive the era of Pharaohs, items preserved for the afterlife, gigantic images of rulers, jewelry, precious stones, furniture and the numerous intricate sarcophagus. As a Christian, it made me realise that the biblical stories are real and Egypt was and is still a great nation whose existence and lifestyle is around the River Nile. I land the authorities for completing the new Museum. I also went to the old one at Tahir square and must say, the new one does Egypt justice for future generations.

Great museum, worth going but… - This is an awesome museum! We really enjoyed our time there! We spent an afternoon there after spending the morning at the great pyramids. (The walkway better the pyramids and museum was under construction still - not sure when it will be open). Wish we had a little longer but we saw as much as we could. There is definitely enough to last you a full day there. There are a lot of food options (you are not allowed outside food expect for baby food) and different shops as well. The one of disappointing things was that the museum was still under construction and not finished. The biggest issue I had with the museum was that it is targeting foreigners with families to come. While we were there I saw multiple moms (including myself) trying yo find a place to nurse our babies. This was frustrating because when I asked where the nursing room was they told me to use the bathroom floor. That was not an acceptable option and for bring a new modern museum targeting families they need to be more family friendly and have nursing rooms. There is plenty of space to do so. On a side note - if you buy your tickets on the ministry of tourism website you may receive the wrong date (date you buy not booked). Which happened to us, so we called prior to leaving home and the ministry said it was fixed. It was not and we had a little issue trying to enter. Luckily we did not have to buy another ticket but just a word of caution. This is truly a “gem” and worth spending a day there!

A modern museum everyone should visit - The museum is a masterpiece of architecture. Make sure you buy your tickets online (€30 for adults and €15 for children, approximately), as there is no possibility to purchase them on site. In the ground floor the visitor admires the colossal statue of Ramses. There are numerous restaurants and cafes at very affordable prices, such as the "Zooba" and a very modern museum shop. The 12 main museum halls are in 4 levels that you can go by an escalator and the best part of the museum is the treasure of Pharaoh Tuttanghamun, whose tomb was found untouched. His gold burial mask, the two daggers, the sarcophaguses and numerous other burial artifacts are truly amazing. The king Khufu boat museum is just next to the main building and is worth visiting to see the two original reconstructed boats from 2500 b.c. (currently only one is fully restored). You will need between 3 and 5 hours to go through everything, so it is big, but not bigger in collections than other known museums. The environment is wonderful and there's a view of the nearby pyramids. The staff is OK, but I would expect them to speak English and not make useless remarks. Starting early from the top is a good advice. The museum was not very crowded on a weekday and it surely worths a visit.

Take a lot of time! And also visit the Old Museum in Cairo. - Huge. That's all there is to this topic anywhere. For people who are in the matter, unfortunately a bit disturbing: not 100% chronologically structured. It takes two hours to watch, several days to experience, and should also treat yourself to two or three hours in the Old Museum in Cairo.

Making Lemonade:) - I was picked up at my hotel and dropped off at the main gate and told I'll see you in 2 hours. There was no guide. The museum itself is a 10 out of 10 and I really enjoyed exploring the museum at my own pace ALONE. I would've been better off just taking an Uber. The museum is such a great experience it overshadowed the poor performance of this tour operator. But there's no way I could recommend them.

A day like no other - An exceptional museum, more than 3000 years of history Normally 1300 gnih entry for foreign tourists add 1000 gnih fee is acceptable Billing me for over 6900 gnih is too much and it's a scam we're not idiots
