Very good excursion - We booked a 2 day trip from Safaga to Cairo by car. On time Ahmet picked us up from the hotel on September 28th at around 1.45 am. The about 540km to Giza /Cairo lay ahead. Several rest stops were approached for breaks. In Giza we welcomed our guide Ibrahim. A very knowledgeable Egyptologist with good German explained to us at all points of contact things that you certainly could not choose yourself, which we had done sufficiently in advance. So in the program was the step pyramid of Sakara with its surroundings, the RAMSESII statue in Memphis, then we went to lunch, which was very good. Afterwards we were driven safely by Ahmed, our driver, through the confusion on the road to the Giza pyramids, I don't want to say much just, OVERWHELMING, the new round trip by bus around the area with exit options at several points came very convenient to us, which at about 35 degrees, the whole facilitated. Around 5pm we were dropped off at the hotel in front of the pyramids, our guid, Ibrahim, cleared everything at reception. Our room on the 4th floor had wonderful views of the pyramids.. Even better was the panoramic view from the roof terrace where the food was served. Completely mentally and physically, we went to sleep with sounds of several Mulas to tackle the day's program the next morning. 8 o'clock Ibrahim picked us up with driver, on we went to the old Egyptian museum. Here our Guid led us through the exhibition with many explanations about the individual points that are important to him. Thanks Ibrahim it was highly interesting so we would not have learned much from simply looking. Between taking pictures and listening, time flew by. We'll have a look at some pictures and read in books at home. Internalize again, but a foundation is laid. A drive through the Old City with a walk along several mosques would end with a drive through Cairo, to the Alabaster Mosque. Excursion to Cairo by plane - We booked the day trip to Cairo by plane on 01.10.25! We do not disappoint. On the contrary, we got more than we expected. Since only we (my girlfriend and I) had booked this tour, we could enjoy this experience very privately. The transfer (in Hurghada and Cairo) went smoothly! Both drivers were extremely friendly! Super trip - We booked a private trip to Cairo. Simple and straightforward via WhatsApp. Our driver Carlos arrived at the hotel on time. Carlos was super nice and accommodating. There was free water and soft drinks throughout the ride. Arriving in Cairo, our German-speaking guide was already waiting for us. He gave us interesting knowledge and took beautiful photos with us. Travelogue: An unforgettable day in Cairo - In the summer of 2025, as a family of four, we fulfilled a special wish: a day trip from Hurghada to Cairo. Our idea was a compact “KNEP trip” – compact, sustainable, efficient, educational – with the big highlights: Pyramids including burial chambers, sphinx, the new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the “old” Egyptian Museum. Since no provider offered this program in this form, Zakharious Tours put together a custom package for us: Flights, local transfers and a private guide. Even the early morning start went smoothly: At 4am we were picked up by Helal, our driver, on time in the air-conditioned minibus and reliably brought to Hurghada airport. In Cairo, our guide Marcus was already waiting for us – charming detail: instead of a name tag, he recognized us directly through a pre-swapped photo via WhatsApp. After a short vote on the schedule – after all, the old museum doesn’t open until 9 a.m. and closes already at 5 p.m. – we headed straight to the pyramids of Giza. There were the burial chambers and of course the sphinx on the program. Marcus always paid attention to our schedule, so we could visit everything in peace but without any hassle. Afterwards we drove to the GEM, which impressed us deeply upon entering with the massive statue of Ramses II and the magnificent architecture. The huge reception hall, the first treasures on display and above all the “large gallery” with its exhibits left us amazed. The exhibition rooms are clearly divided into eras and themes – a fascinating experience! Since many famous pieces, including the treasures of Tutankhamun, have not yet been transferred to the GEM, we then visited the ancient Egyptian Museum. And what shall we say? It has by no means lost its radiance! Impressive originals are still on display there, so it is worth visiting both museums at the moment. A big thank you to Marcus, who provided us with extensive background knowledge throughout the day, drew our attention to special features and at the same time kept the schedule under control. Thanks to his expertise, we actually managed to see everything until closing at 5pm – even if the staff pointed out the time of going out quite definitely at the end. Our trip was rounded off by a dinner together and a drive through Cairo's old town before we boarded the flight home to Hurghada tired but very happy. Helal was already expecting us there and brought us safely back to the hotel. Conclusion: Even if it was a long day, the KNEP trip to Cairo was worth it in every way.
