- Parco Archeologico - Situated between modern-day Palermo and Trapani, this is one of Sicily’s oldest cities to explore. The first must-see is the Doric temple, renowned as one of the best-preserved Greek temples in the western world. Located outside the city walls, the Doric temple of Segesta is perched on a hill to the west of the city. The ancient theater of Segesta, positioned on the northern side of the acropolis, is located at the highest point of Monte Barbaro, near the Gulf of Castellammare. The theater offers a vast panoramic view that can transform into a stunning backdrop when needed. It is a prime example of theatrical architecture and is still used for performances and concerts during the summer. Visitors can reach the theater by hiking up the mountain or taking a bus (consider the shuttle bus on hot summer days or if hiking isn’t your preference).
- Borgo Storico Erice - Nestled atop a mountain and overlooking the Gulf of Trapani, Erice is a charming medieval village with narrow cobblestone streets, courtyards, churches, and refreshing air, even in the peak of summer. Its elevation provides a magnificent 360° panoramic view. Just beyond the main arch at the town’s entrance is the cathedral with its towering bell tower. Starting from the narrow streets behind the cathedral, you can embark on a tour of the town center, discovering picturesque corners, souvenir shops, and historic pastry shops. The town’s emblem is the Castello di Venere, dating back to the Norman era, perched on a cliff offering a breathtaking view. Adjacent to the castle, you can admire the Pepoli Towers and the beautiful Balio municipal villa. During the summer, the cable car connecting Trapani to the top of Erice is operational!
- Riserva Naturale Saline Di Trapani E Paceco - The salt pans of Trapani are a must-visit in the city. The salt trade historically propelled the city’s prosperity, establishing it as a commercial powerhouse across Europe. A visit here reveals the traditional and ongoing process of extracting salt from seawater. The museum of the salt pans of Trapani features not only the famous salt extraction tanks but also mills and historical equipment used in the salt production process.
- Eurobar - Dattilo is renowned for its exceptional Sicilian cannoli. Eurobar has long been celebrated for its Sicilian cannoli, attracting visitors eager to taste this iconic dessert. The Sicilian cannoli’s key ingredient, derived from sheep’s milk, is crafted in a more rustic, artisanal manner in this village. Cannoli tasting is included in the tour cost.
