From there, we ascend to Pico do Areeiro, 1818m high, to admire the stunning mountain ranges, valleys, and parish of Curral das nuntas nestled deeply in a grand valley. A descent to Ribeiro Frio follows, housing a trout nursery with trout being released into the stream later.
The itinerary includes a visit to the heart of Santana to witness the distinctive triangular dwellings with straw roofs, and a subsequent stop at Faial. On our return to Funchal, there will be additional stops at Ponta de São Lourenço’s lookout point and Machico.
