After a brief introduction, the tour will begin with a visit around the city to admire the French colonial architecture in Battambang and explore the authentic local market. Guests will also see the statue of Lok Ta Dambong Kra Nhoung, the symbol of Battambang, before proceeding to the next destination.
- Wat Samrong Knong - The tour continues to Wat Samrong Knong, where visitors will explore an ancient Buddhist temple built over 300 years ago. This site was once a prison during the Pol Pot regime. The operator will provide insights into the Pol Pot regime and religion. Guests can also visit The Well of Shadows (killing field) to see the remains of victims from the regime, where 10,008 people were killed. The tour includes a visit to small villages and the countryside to observe local life, including families making bamboo sticky rice, rice paper for spring rolls, and dried bananas. Guests can sample these snacks and visit the fish paste market (Cambodian cheese) for a short walk.
- Prasat Ek Phnom - The tour visits Ek Phnom Temple, one of Battambang’s oldest ruined temples, dating back to the early 11th century, older than Angkor Wat. A large Buddha statue is located near the ruins.
- Kampong Pil Pagoda - Before reaching the bamboo train, the tour passes through charming villages and countryside, visiting fruit farms and a local pagoda along the river. Friendly farmers and children greet visitors with smiles and waves. The operator will explain the local lifestyle before visiting a small Golden Gate Bridge near Kampong Pil Pagoda, offering photo opportunities with scenic river views. The journey then continues to the bamboo train.
- Bamboo Train Battambang - Guests will ride the original bamboo train, possibly for the last time, as the government plans to close it soon. The ride costs $5 per person and offers views of small villages and the countryside.
- Phnom Sampeau - Phnom Sampeau, known for its killing cave and bat cave, is the next stop. Visitors will see the cave where victims were pushed to their deaths during the Pol Pot regime, with over ten thousand killed. Real skulls and bones are visible inside the stupa. Guests can ascend the mountain for stunning views and a Buddhist pagoda. Note: There are many monkeys, and some may be aggressive, so caution is advised. Visitors can choose to walk, take a motorbike, or a pickup truck to reach the mountain top.
- Battambang Bat Caves - At this cave, millions of bats emerge, resembling a long dragon, taking 30 to 40 minutes to exit. This is the final stop, after which the operator will return guests to their hotel.
