Battambang in a day - This was an ALL DAY experience. We saw a lot! The description matched the experience exactly. Our guide, Tha, brought a lot of his personal experience to the explanations of several of the sites, related to the time of the Khmer Rouge and civil war. Tha brought us to several authentic markets and food crafters. The local market had some amazing fish stalls and I got to sample some fish that was cooked inside banana leaves. We loved sampling the sticky rice cooked in bamboo at another stall on the way to a temple. And at even another place we were treated to spring/summer rolls using handmade rice paper by a husband and wife team. Tha also took us to a rice wine maker and were able to taste several fruit infused rice wines. The bamboo train was just okay. It seemed pricey for what it was, and the cart stopped at the halfway point at a ‘shop’ where you felt compelled to purchase drinks and goods. We felt like a bit of a captive audience. For lunch on our own, Tha dropped us at a restaurant in town that we really enjoyed. Our final stop was to Phnom Sampeau to see the Killing Cave and then witness millions of bats flying from their cave at sunset. To see the killing cave we opted to pay $10 extra to have a truck take us up the mountain, rather than hiking for an hour. The cave was sobering; there was a temple complex and statues nearby that memorialized the site. The bats at sunset was a really interesting sight, but you had to wait for them to appear — it made the day really long. We were driven home in the dark. Tha did a good job. The tour was a good value, even having to pay extra for the train and truck. 👍

Perfect Day Tour in Battambamg - Rotha was incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything in great detail with excellent English. From the rice whiskey, rice paper rolls all the way thru to the Battambang Killing Fields and Cave. He was very patient with my non-stop questions and put no pressure on me to look at sights faster. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Best day ever with Tha - The tour was very good. Hit all of the best spots and had good variety of scenery, culture, and fun. If you go I highly recommend you ask for Tha. He grew up in Battambang and was one of the best guides we have ever had. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area, spoke great English, and we had so many interesting conversations with him throughout the day. He took us to his favorite places which he said were the best in town for the rice paper and sticky rice bamboo snacks. Let me tell you they were. We’ve only had three of the bamboo snacks but these were the best. The rice paper was used to make summer and spring rolls for lunch/snack. We have traveled a lot and eat Aisian at home quite often and the wife and I both agreed these were the best spring and summer rolls we have ever had. Tha stopped several times to say hi to people out in the villages he hadn’t seen in a while and we got to chat with them also. The best part I think was Tha’s dedication to the community. He carried pencils, pens, and small notebooks with him and when he saw a group of kids in a village he would ask if they needed any of those items for school and if they didn’t he would give them some. Such a great guide, man, and community member. Highly recommend the tour no matter the guide but Tha is a hidden gem.

First time to Battambang - Our guide Tha was wonderful. Explaining to us the history of Battambang as well as taking such good care of us on our trip. We had so much fun on the bamboo train & it was our first time seeing thousands of bats fly out of a cave. Worth to come visit Battambang.
