• Kompong Khleang - After a brief rest, begin exploring Kampong Khleang to witness the lifestyle of the lake’s inhabitants. A common adaptation to life on the lake is the floating village. Wooden houses are constructed on large mats of bamboo, metal drums, or boat hulls, allowing the front veranda to float about a meter above the water. As the lake’s level changes, so do the houses. Villages shift, not only moving meters up and down throughout the year but also several kilometers back and forth as the Tonle Sap expands and contracts.
