- Siem Reap Province - You’ll be collected from your hotel in Siem Reap and commence your journey to a nearby pagoda. Water blessings are an integral part of Cambodian culture, tracing their origins back to ancient times. Prior to receiving the blessing, we’ll explore the monastery and gain insights into the role of Buddhism in Cambodia from the chanting Buddhist monk.
The initial phase involves the monks reciting chants in unison, bestowing upon you wishes for fortune, safe travels, and longevity, accompanied by a gentle sprinkling of water. The subsequent phase is a more elaborate ceremony where you will be doused with sanctified water from vessels while the monks continue their chants. For this part of the ritual, a sarong/kromar will be provided for you to wear to keep your clothes dry.
To conclude the blessing, your wrist will be decorated with bracelets made of red string, symbolizing the blessing you have received.
