- Preah Vihear Temple - Among the most strikingly located Angkorian monuments, Prasat Preah Vihear stretches along a clifftop near the Thai border, offering stunning views of the Cambodian lowlands 550 meters below. This site has been a significant pilgrimage destination for thousands of years. Constructed by a series of seven Khmer kings, starting with Yasovarman I (reigned 889–910) and concluding with Suryavarman II (reigned 1112–52), the temple, like other temple-mountains of its era, was designed to symbolize Mt Meru and was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
- Koh Ker Temple - Koh Ker is a 10th-century temple complex nestled in the northern Cambodian jungle. Once the capital of the Khmer Empire, the site is now remote and densely forested. The central structure, Koh Ker Temple, is a seven-tiered stepped pyramid. The large rectangular reservoir, Rahal Baray, provided water to the complex.
- Beng Mealea - Beng Mealea is a vast, unrestored temple partially enveloped by jungle near Phnom Kulen National Park, located at a considerable distance from Siem Reap and the main Angkor temples.
Constructed from large sandstone blocks adorned with both Hindu and Buddhist imagery, the temple is oriented towards the East. A partially elevated wooden walkway leads to the inner sanctuary at the heart of the temple.
Based on its architectural style, archaeologists believe Beng Mealea was built by King Suryavarman II in the first half of the 12th century, just before or around the same time as Angkor Wat.
