Koh Ker is an ancient temple complex situated in northern Cambodia, about 120 kilometers from Siem Reap. It was the capital of the Khmer Empire for a short time in the early 10th century, particularly during the reign of King Jayavarman IV. The temple is surrounded by lush jungle, enhancing its mystical ambiance and providing a rich habitat for wildlife.
After exploring Koh Ker, guests can enjoy lunch near the temple. The drive from Koh Ker to Beng Mealea takes about 1 hour.
- Beng Mealea - Arrival at Beng Mealea is expected around 2:30 PM. Beng Mealea was constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the God Vishnu in the early 12th century. Its architecture resembles that of Angkor Wat, leading historians to believe that Beng Mealea served as a prototype before Angkor Wat was built. The temple is primarily made of sandstone and remains largely unrestored, with trees and dense brush flourishing among its towers and courtyards, and many stones lying in large heaps.
