- Tonle Sap Lake - After exploring the flooded forests, the journey continues down the Kompong Phluk river and onto the lake itself. Sometimes, floating villages can be found on the lake, while at other times, they are situated in the river. Regardless of the time, it’s a fantastic way to explore and discover the river and lake systems. Upon entering the magnificent Tonle Sap Lake, its vastness is truly astonishing. The Great Tonle Sap Lake stretches over 200 km in length and is more than 40 km wide from this point, making it a truly great lake. The boats used have specially designed flat bottoms, ensuring safe travel and navigation through this unique and fascinating lake and river system, regardless of the season. After this lake cruise, the journey continues up the river, passing the township from another entry, and proceeds to the transport back into town.
- Kompong Phluk - An expert local guide and driver, both from this village, will introduce you to the Kompong Phluk rivers and the town itself. The water levels in the great lake can vary from half a meter to over 10 meters, and the village and rivers adapt accordingly. The village of Kompong Phluk is built on stilts approximately 12 meters high to accommodate the constant seasonal water variations. Together with the flooded forest, this makes for a very unique and interesting village to explore. The tour includes docking alongside the Monks Training School, where the inspection of the large Pergola is a highlight, featuring extensive and beautiful artwork on its walls and ceiling. With schools, homes, shops, boat builders, and fishing net repairs, it’s certainly a wonderful village to explore. Afterward, the journey proceeds to the magical and serene flooded forests, passing a few floating homes along the way. Overall, it’s a delightful way to spend a few hours away from the temples and enter a place where time seems to have stood still.
