- Emerald Lake - The Activity: Enjoy a picturesque, mostly flat hike along the shores of one of British Columbia’s most stunning alpine lakes. Begin the day by reaching the furthest point, taking in the vibrant turquoise of the “Jewel of Yoho” and exploring its diverse geological features before the midday crowd arrives. The complete lakeside loop is 5.2km; the trail can be completed in full or partially, based on your group’s preference, the season, and current trail conditions.
Duration: 1–2 hours.
- Natural Bridge - A quick stop along Emerald Lake Road to witness the Kicking Horse River as it cuts through solid rock.
- Lake Louise - The Activity: Visit the most renowned basin in the range. Walk along the shoreline to find quieter viewpoints of the lake and surrounding peaks, providing a better view of the Victoria Glacier and the majestic Fairmont Chateau. The lakeshore trail is up to 4.6km long, with minimal elevation gain. On the way to Marble Canyon, there is an optional brief stop at Lake Louise Village.
- Marble Canyon - The Activity: A winding, 1.8km in-and-out trail showcasing the stunning blues of Tokumm Creek, waterfalls, and several footbridges spanning the canyon, allowing you to look directly through the limestone edges to the creek below. One of Kootenay National Park’s top spots.
- The Continental Divide Great Divide - Crossing the Continental Divide is a remarkable experience as you stand on the “spine” of North America, where geography determines whether a single drop of water will flow west to the Pacific or east to the Atlantic.
- Bow Valley Parkway - The Activity: If time allows, transition to the Bow Valley Parkway for part of the journey back to Banff. This quieter and more relaxed alternative to the Trans-Canada Highway offers a different view of the valley and more frequent wildlife sightings.
Note: Certain sections may be closed seasonally for wildlife and to provide a vehicle-free experience for cyclists; during these times, the open sections of the parkway might not align with the rest of our itinerary.
