- Emerald Lake - The Activity: Enjoy a picturesque, mostly flat hike along the shores of Emerald Lake, one of British Columbia’s most stunning alpine lakes. Begin the day by reaching the furthest point first, taking in the vibrant turquoise of the “Jewel of Yoho” and exploring its diverse geological features before the midday crowd arrives. The complete lakeside loop spans 5.2km; the trail can be completed in full or partially, based on your group’s preference, the season, and current trail conditions.
Duration: 1–2 hours.
- Natural Bridge - The Activity: Make a brief stop along Emerald Lake Road to witness the Kicking Horse River as it carves through solid rock.
- Lake Louise - The Activity: Visit the most iconic basin in the range. Walk along the shoreline to find quieter vantage points of the lake and surrounding peaks, offering a better view of the Victoria Glacier and the castle-like Fairmont Chateau. The lakeshore trail is up to 4.6km long, with minimal elevation gain.
Duration: 1–1.5 hours.
- Moraine Lake - The Activity: At Moraine Lake, enjoy a walk along the forest-lined lakeshore (up to 2.5km return) combined with a short climb up the “Rockpile” trail (350m each way). This offers two perspectives: close-up views from the water’s edge and the iconic elevated view of the stunning Ten Peaks and turquoise waters from the Rockpile perch. On the way back to Banff, there is an option for a quick stop at Lake Louise Village.
Duration: 1–1.5 hours.
Note: As Moraine Lake Road is closed to all vehicles during the winter season (and to private, non-commercial vehicles year-round), this stop is only available from June to mid-October. Our van has the necessary permits for direct access during this period, eliminating the need to change vehicles or worry about shuttle queues.
- Bow Valley Parkway - The Activity: If time allows, transition to the Bow Valley Parkway for part of the journey back to Banff. This quieter and more relaxed alternative to the Trans-Canada Highway offers a different view of the valley and more frequent wildlife sightings.
Note: Certain sections are subject to seasonal closures for wildlife and to provide a vehicle-free experience for cyclists; during these times, the most scenic accessible portions of the route are utilized.
