Taste of everything - The excursion is just as advertised. You'll see many of the more popular sites at chichenitza, enjoy a dip in a cenote, learn about Mayan culture and history including interacting with a Mayan village, and enjoy a decent meal/buffet. Time seems a bit rushed at chichenitza and the cenote, and we didn't have a chance to see the sacred cenote at chichenitza. Upcharges were constant though, including locker rental at the cenote (optional but pretty much needed), beverages at lunch (water was provided at chichenitza which was very much needed but no way that is making it to lunch), and of course if you want to buy anything from vendors at the Mayan village or chichenitza. You'll also want to bring tip money for your driver, guide, servers, and dancers at lunch. Also, if you're going anytime from March to April, bring a hat and some shade to prevent burning at chichenitza. They do provide umbrellas at chichenitza to help, but it gets unbearably hot even with the umbrella (we went early may and it was already hitting 100 degrees). Diego was a great guide and was very informative including giving tips about the vendors at chichenitza (it was our second time there and the vendors can be pushy and don't sell the best quality items) and what to look for/how to tell real stones from fake ones (mainly obsidian). He did really sell the Mayan birth certificate which is a cool souvenir that travels well, but also seems a bit generic for the cost. You'll get out of this tour what you put into it, so enjoy yourself if you do go. I'd recommend everyone going at least once in their life. If you've already been, focus on one or two things you want to do on another tour as this will give you just a brief taste of all these items.

The ruins where fantastic... - The ruins where fantastic and the tour was over all decent, downside was the “Mayan village” which was just a giant tourist trap with mediocre food.

Cool experiences with poor delivery - Seeing Chichen Itza and the cenote was amazing. However, the tour itself felt like one big sales pitch.

Some services can be improved. Stop selling me stuff - I was put into another tour company. I am not sure why. Olmar tour company did not notify me about that at all. The pickup is on time. Bus is fine. Space is good on the seat. But the tour guide while on bus keeping telling us about art products that he will being us to purchase. He said not to buy anything at chichen itza. Instead he will take us to a shop that sells authentic souvenir. However the shop is way over priced. That caused us not getting some souvenir from chichen itza. Also we did not have enough time exploring chichen itza. He kept saying real mayan lunch while on bus. At lucnh, it is just cheap tacos. Nothing different than you can get from OXXO. plus seating at lunch is arranged weird. I had to sit with others in front of me. Plus they said they dont have soft drink while i see them serving to others. The only good thing is cenote. The cenote they brought us to is clean. Not crowded. It had zipline as well. That is the only place throughout the whe tour that my daughters actually enjoyed.

Tourist trap - The tour guide Ullista was very knowledgeable and very friendly, along with all the other tour people involved. I have no complaints about the staff, only the trip and the tourist trap aspect. Constantly on the tour you are offered and guilted into paying for extras, we did not pay for any extras/ tourist traps but please be aware of this before booking. The first stop was a ‘traditional’ Mayan town, which was really just a complex built completely for tourists with nothing traditional about it, you are first led to a gift shop with about 20 sales people trying to get you to buy their “handmade” souvenirs which are really just all imported items, they were charging 40 dollars for a small Chichen Itza pyramid, which later on in the tour at other stops, merchants were selling for 1-5 dollars!!! The first stop was very disappointing and felt very tourist trap like, the food included was very limited and not great. Please do not think there is anything traditional about this Mayan stop. The second stop was Chichen itza which was an incredible experience, the tour guide was great and no complaints about this stop. The 3rd stop again was amazing the town was a great spot and lots to do, however you are encouraged to go to ‘free tequila tasting’ which in the end is more sales people trying to get you to buy their “homemade” tequila. Also on the tour you are offered Mayan certificates and a local liquor made by one of the tour guides families, which actually has your photo on the label, again it does come across very tourist trap like and pressured into buying. The last stop was the cenote which was also amazing, you do only get an hour at the cenote which does make the time short, however for us we were truly exhausted and ready to call it a day! Overall we enjoyed the trip and glad we went, but were disappointed with how much ‘selling’ was included in the tour and the tricks of the authentic Mayan culture. During some of the knowledge talks there was a lot of information which was sometimes hard to follow and understand as well. Just something to be aware of before going on the trip!

Very disappointed - Overly long, but with limited time at the main reason for going, Chichen Itza, which was rushed. The worst thing was the hard sell from the tour guide on the bus, Mayan calendar and their personal life history, trapped with no escape. Series of tacky tourist souvenir traps at grossly inflated prices, they really have missed the point. This could have been a brilliant day, instead of which was memorable for all of the wrong reasons. The guide at the ruins, however, was very good and they (ruins) were superb.
