Amazing, worthwhile experience - Rafa was an amazing guide!! He provided a ton of interesting information about Chichen Itza and the Mayan lifestyle. He was engaging and clearly had a passion for Mayan culture. He was a ton of fun to be around with an energetic vibe. Our bus driver Eduardo, kept us and our belongings safe on our journey as we were allowed to keep our things on the bus when they weren’t needed. Wear sunscreen and prepare for the heat. Bring water and snacks to hold you over until lunch. Spare set of clothes is not a bad idea, in case it rains.

Good tour! - Very good tour. The day is used and the destinations are well known. The only sad thing is that they give the foreigner all the attention. Although my partner and I know English, we would have loved to hear the tour in our language, because we are in Mexico and it is nice that foreigners are also immersed in our culture and not the other way around. Although Rafael was attentive in asking if we understood, I think it should not be taken for granted that only the tour has to be done in one language, because we are all important. And if the tour mentions that it is English/Spanish, let's do it like this. Otherwise, it is a very nice experience, well explained tour, adequate time and everything in general fine.

Tour at a glance - It was a good experience. If you can make sure you grab breakfast before going. It's a 2 hour ride out. (Picking up all other participants stay at the other resorts) Also if you have Luis as your tour guide. You are in for a treat. This man knows what feels like the is about all locations on the tour. For the temple make sure if you are reading this review that you are aware that there is an additional 45$ (USD) you must pay to get admission. Don't be too upset they tell you that in the email you glanced at lol. But there is a guaranteed buffet so if you didn't have breakfast there's lunch. And a dip in the water. Time will fly at all locations so pay attention. Outside of that the tour is family friendly. (Yes there's activities for the kiddos as well.)

My second time at Chichen Itza with SAT - It was my second time visiting Chichen Itza with SAT. My first trip was in July 2022, and I was very satisfied with the experience. The guide was wonderful, and even after the guided portion, I had plenty of time to explore Chichen Itza on my own. This time, I brought my husband and parents with SAT again. Communication was fast and efficient, and they were very accommodating regarding unforeseen circumstances my family had to deal with right before the trip. I truly appreciated that (many thanks to their WhatsApp support system and our first tour guide, John). Our pick-up and drop-off were very smooth, and the overall logistics were well handled. However, unlike my first visit, we stopped at a Mayan village on the way to Chichen Itza, which took up about an hour of our time. We were initially on schedule, but there was a strong emphasis on shopping, and the Mayan vendors were very eager to sell their (quite overpriced) goods, which felt a bit frustrating. By the time we arrived at Chichen Itza, it was close to noon and already very crowded. Our bus couldn't even find a space. Because of these delays, we were unable to enjoy a full two-hour stay at the site. After the one-hour guided tour, my family had to rush to take photos before heading back. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to explore the pyramid area on our own, which was disappointing. The buffet and cenote were fine, though I personally preferred the ones included in my 2022 trip. In Valladolid, we were given only 30 minutes, yet the guide still insisted that we stop by a tequila shop, which again took away from our limited free time. That said, some level of shop visits is expected on these types of tours, and I still appreciate SAT’s smooth logistics and flexibility with our schedule. I just wish we had been given more free time at Chichen Itza, especially if we had skipped or shortened the Mayan village stop.

Chichen Itza but mainly other things trip - You ll probably book this tour via an agent in kiosk in town centre. You will be promised 3 venues in itinerary. 2.5 hrs journey later, you arrive at a secluded Mayan village. Expect to spend most of your time here, NOT at the main attraction Chichen Itza. Be ready to be expected to spend $$$$ here. Lockers, life jacket, souvenirs, photos etc. Most frustrating Cenote photo arrangement. Charging extortionate amount for a single digital photo. Ridiculous. ~ USD 60!!!. Chichen Itza stop is time pressured. So rush to take good photos from all angles, appreciate the monument whilst there. After this, traffic dependent, is a fleeting visit to Valladolid village. It was a just a stop to stretch your legs and buy snacks if needed. Tiring all day trip. Make sure it includes Rep speaking language of your choice. Mine was a rep speaking SPANISH+english !. Overall, enjoyable.

Salesman rather than tour guide - Cesar, the tour guide, stopped first at a place not on the itinerary and did a hard sell on buying things from this particular organization. He made everyone feel guilty if they didn’t buy. He made several comments throughout the tour that made us feel that everything wrong was our fault and that we had to agree with his opinions on everything or they made to feel like we were stupid. It seemed like everything was hurry up hurry up and then we waited in lines. Cesar‘s pace was very fast and it was difficult to keep up. When we couldn’t keep up, it was our fault, of course. And if we didn’t understand what he was saying, we didn’t dare ask a question because he would make a snide comment about how we should’ve been listening. He talked very fast in both Spanish and English, alternating each sentence from one language to the other, so it was very, very difficult to follow what he was saying. Our assigned seats on the bus were not together. My sister got stuck next to a really fat lady with bad breath so the 3 hour ride to the first place was uncomfortable for her. The food at the Cenote was terrible and cold. They brought us lemonade in reused water bottles with the labels removed. We didn’t drink them because we didn’t know what was in the bottle to begin with and what kind of water they used to make the lemonade. The information given at Chichen Itza by Caesar was interesting and swimming in the Cenote was fun, although the water was not crystal clear like it is in other Cenotes. If you want to see Chichen Itza, I would recommend a different company.

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR - Van to pick us up was late, then we were taken to meet a full tour bus and had to transfer on the side of the road in the middle of cancun. There were assigned seats so our party couldn't sit together on the long ride. Tour guide spoke very fast in both Spanish and English, 1 phrase at a time, so very difficult to get the information we needed out of it. We had a lengthy sales pitch on the bus for mayan products that we then made an unscheduled stop at a very overpriced mayan store and made to feel guilty if we questioned the prices. This was the only place we werent rushed. At chichen itza, the tour guide made us hurry, hurry to follow and we couldn't hear everything, especially since he would start his talk before the whole group was caught up to where he stopped. He also had made it clear that the bus would leave without you if you were more than 10 minutes late getting back to the bus, without explaining that the way out was longer than the way in and through the vendor market... we almost didn't make it and 1 person did get left behind. At the cenote, we had time for a very quick swim then off to lunch. It was cold substandard mexican/american buffet food and they brought me lemonade which was a previously-opened water bottle that had been filled with lemonade. Since it was opened and I had no idea where the bottle had been previous to getting filled, I asked for a different drink and was told no because the bottle was opened! I had to ask for the boss to even get a drink i could feel safe drinking. So, basically it was a hard sales pitch to buy overpriced merchandise, rushed in the areas we WANTED to spend time in, fear of being left behind, and NO good food over a more than 12 hour day from riviera maya. I DO NOT recommend.

They lied about hotel pick up and drop off. - The pickup was not at hotel. Had to take a taxi to pick up location. Even though everyone else got picked up at hotel and dropped off. I asked if they could take me to my hotel when tour was over they said no, even though I paid for it. Even though my hotel was only 6 km away. Not walkable at night especially for a young lady. They just left me stranded.

Bad Provider: Sat Mexico Tours - The provider, Sat Mexico Tours, is unsatisfactory. They failed to drop me off at the designated meeting point. This occurred at night, resulting in a near accident. Their advertisement claims they are the number one tour operator in Mexico, which is clearly not the case. Their WhatsApp: +52 (55)4367 5289

Disorganized tour with missed highlights - This was supposed to be a 3-stop trip, but they added a 4th stop that took about 1.5 hours. It was called a bathroom break, but they spent most of the time trying to sell things. That extra time should have been clearly mentioned in advance. Because of this delay, we had much less time at Chichén Itzá. The tour guide only covered about 20% of the site and spent too much time talking about the same things, so we missed many important areas. He was also very annoying, constantly speaking loudly on the microphone early in the morning, which became a headache. They also said there would be hotel pickup, but later we were told there was no pickup and we had to take a taxi to the main gate of Puerto Aventuras. This was not clear in the booking. If we had known, we would have chosen another tour that offered pickup. At the end of the day, after being exhausted, we couldn’t find a ride back and had to walk a long distance to the hotel with all our luggage. Overall, very poor communication and disappointing experience.
