It’s a good tour and overall worth the money. I just had different expectations. - We really enjoyed the cenote on the tour, and the buffet lunch was tasty - fresh, good-quality food. Of course, the main goal of this trip for us was the pyramids. In the tour description, the pyramids are listed as the first place to visit, and we genuinely expected to see them in the morning, before the heat. Instead, the tour started with a souvenir shop. It did look authentic and charming, and there was even a shaman experience, which was a nice touch. After that came the cenote and lunch, where you actually spend the majority of the tour time. Only after that do you visit the pyramids. Although the description says you have 2 hours there, in reality it’s about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Around 1 hour and 15 minutes of that is taken up by the guided explanation, leaving very little free time to walk around, explore, or take good photos. This also happens during the hottest part of the day. The site is very large, and you also need time just to walk back to the exit. We barely made it back to the bus and arrived 10 minutes late, which caused a lot of frustration for the guide. I love history, and to be fair, the guide shared many interesting and valuable facts. However, listening to a long explanation under intense heat is genuinely challenging. The final stop is Valladolid, but you don’t really get to see much of the city. The main purpose seems to be taking you to another expensive souvenir shop, where you are given plenty of time. That time would have been much better spent at the pyramids instead. Overall, the tour itself is well organized and professionally run. However, far too much time is dedicated to shops rather than the main highlight of the trip - the pyramids.
