Isla Mujeres for the win! - Catamarán Isla Mujeres with Grupo Xcaret was an amazing experience! We can’t wait to return! We’ve used Xcaret in the past and they do t disappoint. If you go to Isla Mujeres, select the free time tour option and hire a taxi driver to take you around the island! Playa Norte is the best!

I love love the customer service they have with all the passengers, the schedules were very precise and I like that - I really liked that everyone was on the lookout for the safety and comfort of all passengers and that they spoke in Spanish and English to explain themselves better

Great boat staff, OK beach club, terrible snorkelling. Party vibes throughout - We booked this trip with a few other Xcaret-organised activities as they seem to be a reliable brand and everything does generally seem well organised with comfortable transfers etc. We booked the Prime tour thinking it would be a more ‘exclusive’ experience. There were actually 2x prime tours and 1x standard tour on the day, so most people are actually doing the prime tour. The catamaran is a lot larger than we expected - we pictured a bit of a more intimate trip but there were actually around 100 people on board. The Xcaret Xailing staff were very good , constantly ensuring everyone had drinks etc. The music is playing throughout on board which was primarily Latino music which is fun but definitely catered more to Spanish speakers. The trip is definitely a party atmosphere which is not really our kind of thing. Those who were there to drink and party definitely enjoyed it more - so if that is what you are after it would be a good day out. The snorkelling was terrible, about 20 minutes constantly swimming following the guide and being kicked by other people. Not much to see, lots of boats about, and nothing pointed out/ explained. I think they would be better not bothering with the snorkelling and making the trip a party boat day trip. Having done a snorkeling trip on Cozumel a few days before, I would recommend doing that instead if you want to do snorkelling. The beach club was nice, although billed as ‘exclusive’, there were two Xcaret boats and one other boat there (so around 250-300 people probably), ended up sharing a table for food with another family which is fine, but doesn’t really live up to our expectations. The drinks weren’t great and service was generally poor due to the number of people, but again those who were there to party enjoyed it. It was a bit annoying being asked for a tip after being brought a single Diet Coke - but maybe they are more accustomed to American tourists who are more accustomed to tipping. The food was ok but not amazing, nowhere near as good as the buffet at Xplor. It was also quite early to eat as we got there around 10.30! Not much on offer for dessert and some basic looking ice lollies in a freezer were not included. It was then back to the boat to go to the north end of the island. From here you are on your own to find an activity to do. We rented a golf cart for $40 for an hour which was pretty fun and the breeze kept us cool whilst driving. By this point it was the middle of the day so too hot to really explore. The staff kept everyone topped up with drinks on the trip back to Cancun, those that had really been on it were pretty rowdy by this point. Overall, I would say if you want a day on a boat and at an OK beach club with almost everything included, it’s probably a decent deal, although. If you are more interested in snorkelling I would give it a miss.

Xcaret Xailing Sad Story - This tour on the Prime Catamaran Xcaret Xailing from Cancun to Isla Mujeres was unfortunately very disappointing. The sailors and the catamaran ride itself was fantastic. The sailors were extremely friendly. The photographer was incredible, he took breathtaking photos of my family and I and the purchase price was very reasonable!! However outside of the sailors and the photographer this trip was very underwhelming. At the first spot we were told we had a snorkeling activity which we were very excited for, but we were handed a mask and lifejacket and that was it. We were never given a snorkel or fins. How you complete a snorkel activity without a snorkel is still a question I’m attempting to answer but everyone literally swam like you see on the Olympics 400m freestyle without seeing hardly anything because we were swimming like you would in a training swimming pool. We were then taken to a beach club which was lovely where we had fantastic authentic Mexican buffet food and the beach club was very beautiful and picturesque. Beach chairs, food, drinks, and everything was included! Unfortunately we had only about an hour to eat and enjoy the beach club which was extremely rushed and we had absolutely no time to relax like the description of the activity provided on the Xcaret website. We were scheduled to arrive at the beach club at 1030 however didn’t end up arriving until about 1130 and still left on time at 1240 giving us 70 minutes total. We were then taken to downtown on the island and dropped off for about an hour on the public beach where it was so slammed packed we compared it to being in Tokyo. On this beach, nothing was included, counting the chairs which were all extra cost. The beach was packed and most of us just laid towels out on the beach as we weren’t paying extra for beach chairs. I’m finding it very challenging to understand how they made us leave the gorgeous beach club with everything included to go to the public beach which is very expensive and paying for everything when we’ve already paid for the tour itself too. Then we got back to the marina for pickup at 4PM because the scenic lighthouse wasn’t working but we were forced to sit on our transport bus until 5PM rather than leaving at 4PM when everyone arrived. While the sailors and photographers on Xcaret Xailing were incredible, the rest of the tour was extremely disappointing for Xcaret Xailing to Isla Mujeres.

At no time was it mentioned to us that children 16 or 14 or could snorkel without an adult present in turn was segu - Be clearer with the charges and indicate when doing activities what are their restrictions, of advice the tourist will encounter this barrier.
