- Cape Coast Castle - Cape Coast Castle was one of the slave castles constructed along the Ghanaian coast. It also functioned as the administrative center for British governance in West Africa. Participants will explore the museum and the dungeons where enslaved individuals were held before being transported to the New World.
- Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park - The visit includes the Assin Manso slave river site, where enslaved people took their final bath on African soil before being led to the slave castles. They were nourished and cleaned to appear appealing and healthy, ensuring higher prices. Hot branding irons were used to mark captives with identifying scars on the shoulder, breast, or upper arm to indicate ownership. Sometimes, branding signified that the appropriate duty had been paid. Today, it is a revered place of remembrance, housing the first two diasporas (Lady Crystal from Jamaica and Samuel Carson from New York) whose remains were returned to Ghana through the “door of return” and reburied. Additionally, the remains of African slave descendants from Barbados are interred at the site to symbolize emancipation and reconnection.
