- Camps Bay - The journey will take travelers along the Atlantic seaboard, driving between majestic mountains and the ocean. The first photo stop will be at Maiden’s Cove, a stunning scenic lookout nestled between Clifton’s beaches and the prestigious suburb of Camps Bay in Cape Town.
- Hout Bay - Departing from Cape Town, the first fishing village encountered is Hout Bay, perched on the ocean’s edge. It is flanked by the Table Mountain range, which narrows into a road leading to the affluent mountainside suburb of Constantia on one side, and opens onto the half-moon shaped bay with the scenic Chapman’s Peak road between mountain and sea on the other.
- Chapman’s Peak Drive - The drive to the Good Hope nature reserve takes travelers from Hout Bay to Noordhoek along the coastal scenic Chapman’s Peak drive across the mountain face, offering numerous wonderful viewing sites. The almost vertical, sheer cliffs of Chapman’s Peak, seemingly within reach, plunge into the sea. The road cuts through sedimentary dark-colored layers of sandstone and lighter grey-colored granite exposed below.
- Scarborough - A road trip around the Cape Peninsula would be incomplete without the coastal drive to Scarborough.
- Cape Point Ostrich Farm - Set in the beautiful Cape Peninsula, the next photo stop is at the southernmost ostrich farm in Africa. The largest living birds in the world, a tour guide will share interesting facts about ostriches.
- Platboom Beach - The first part of the hike begins along the beach on the Western shoreline of the Nature Reserve, crossing over to the Eastern side and ending at Cape Point. It offers breathtaking views of False Bay. In spring, spectacular flora and abundant bird life are highlights, along with whale watching. Visitors are likely to get very close to baboons.
- Cape Point - A lunch break at Cape Point.
- Old Cape Point Lighthouse - Walk or take the funicular to the old Cape Point lighthouse. From here, numerous stepped paths lead to various viewpoints. Ascending to the old lighthouse is both enjoyable and invigorating.
- Cape of Good Hope - The hike takes travelers from Cape Point along a well-maintained and marked boardwalk to the famous Cape of Good Hope, the most southwestern corner of Africa. The trail is popular for its unsurpassed views over the pristine Diaz Beach and rugged shoreline, offering a perfect photo opportunity. The Cape of Good Hope, the continent’s most southwesterly point, is ideal for a momentous photograph, capturing the magic of reaching the Cape.
- Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Exiting the Cape Point Nature Reserve, the next stop is along the False Bay coastline at the famous Boulders Penguins Colony near Simon’s Town. Named after the huge and ancient granite boulders along the coast, this picturesque area is home to a colony of around 3000 delightful African Penguins. A boardwalk runs from Foxy Beach to Boulders Beach, where visitors can get down on the sand and mingle with the penguins, but should avoid petting them as they have sharp beaks that can cause serious injuries.
- Simon’s Town - After visiting Boulders Beach and the African Penguin colony, the drive back to Cape Town passes through the picturesque coastal naval town of Simon’s Town, located on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula.
- Kalk Bay - Kalk Bay is a fishing village situated on the east side of the peninsula along False Bay. The village lies between the ocean and the sharply rising mountainous heights of Table Mountain Sandstone.
- Boyes Drive - Boyes Drive is the last scenic coastal road that climbs the lower slopes of Muizenberg Mountain, providing panoramic views over Muizenberg beach for the last photo opportunity before heading inland. If not too late, the shark spotter may still be on duty.
- Muizenberg - Muizenberg is one of South Africa’s premier surfing destinations, offering excellent waves and surf schools for beginners. It is a popular spot for families and children and is also known for the colorful beach huts lining the shoreline.
- Constantia - Nestled beneath Table Mountain is the Constantia wine valley, with a winemaking history dating back to 1685.
