Best tour and Issac was a fantastic tour guide! - What truly made this tour so great was our amazing tour guide, Isaac. He was very knowledgeable, warm, friendly and went out of his way to make sure we we’re comfortable. I highly recommend this trip. A lot to pack in, but we never felt rushed. If you can request Isaac, your trip will be most memorable. - Gloria Pantell

A fun, informative and thorough experience with a fun and informative guide. - Our tour guide Nathan went above and beyond to show us as much as we could fit into the day. He even took us to see some extra sights that weren’t included in the tour like seals at the harbour, an ostrich farm and part of the city. He was very friendly, knowledgable and very interesting and fun to talk to. He was very invested in us having the best experience possible, offering to take photos of us and adapting the plan to pick us up (seeking us out) so we didn’t have to walk through the rain. We had such a rich experience on our tour, and managed to see so much in one day, exceeding our expectations.

Great day tour - Very nice tour - we booked a small group tour but it was just us. Djibi was punctual and very courteous and knowledgeable. He took into account the needs of our multigenerational group.

Peninsula tour with extras! - A fantastic day out. Booked at group tour but got a private one as we were the only bookers. Djiby was a perfect guide, arrived right on time, very knowledgeable, was completely adaptable to our requests and made a few extra stops. Our final day in Cape Town was one of the best, superb.

Well-organized circuit - The cape is magnificent and this circuit really allows you to see as many things as possible. Perhaps there were a few too many things planned, forcing us to quickly take our photos before getting back in the car.
But the guide knew how to make it a very interesting day.

Viator cheated me! - You cheated me! Promised a tour with all park fees paid, stated that on my original email confirmation and ticket, Then forced me to pay over $75 in park fees. My credit card company has already heard about this, and social media will hear about it too.

Uncomfortable experience as a solo-female traveler, Unkind tour-guide, Inaccurate tour description - My tour guide was Jeff. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this tour because he made me feel ill at ease with his unkind/weird comments, his rushed demeanor and his overall unhappiness. The tour started a half hour late and I got back an hour and a half late. The website estimated 9 hours but my tour ended up being 10.5 hours long. There was no traffic, it was just because of the way the tour guide operated - including giving me a tour of his school and home as a child. At first I thought that was a nice gesture but since it meant I ended up getting home late (not having as much time as I'd have liked to pack) it turned out that I would have preferred to not see the wealthy community he grew up in. I was the only person on this tour which was not the pleasantry you'd think. If anything, as a solo-female traveler it can make it feel risky.
Some of the comments / conversation topics that had me wishing I'd had a different tour guide or no tour at all:
1) He told me he doesn't like muslims.
2) Referred to Kenyan’s "village people" and the way he said this was just so rude. My previous tour guides on a different tour were Kenyans and they were incredible.
3) He doesn’t like how the black people hang out and act trashy (referring to them sitting on the back of their trunks along the boulevard where Nelson Mandella’s glasses are and when they were taking pictures of themselves. (The tour guide is black - although he referred to himself as a coconut or oreo…)
4) Made numerous comments about women that were negative. The irony about this is that he gave some example about who pays for the bill in a relationship and how he's a gentleman and wants to pay for the bill (meanwhile, I paid for the restaurant bill, which he said he'd give me cash back but never made any gesture for that).
5) Swore a lot. I would not have noticed an occasional swear but it was constant. Unprofessional.
6) Talked about killing people in the Congo because after one of his divorces he needed to get out and so he got a job with his uncle. It was like he was trying to act mysterious and cool about this story and how he did what he had to do.
7) Talked about issues with his assorted past wives but how he puts them up in their nice houses now.
8) Namibia - talked about how ugly, sandy, and dusty the country of Namibia was...I think it was Namibia or Botswana, I can't remember now but either way, just one of the many examples of how he spoke poorly on everyone and thing around him.
9) Speeding in the car. I was trying to be nice and talk about cars since he loves cars so I guess he thought that meant I would enjoy him going fast in the car...I just ignored it hoping a non-reaction would bore him so he'd drive the regular speed.
10) He made a stop at a store to get some non-alcoholic booze and mentioned that people thought he was an alcoholic. He made a point to show me that it was non-alcoholic but mentioned he wanted the taste of beer.
Honestly this review barely scratches the surface but I really don't feel like reliving this whole day again. Overall he was unhappy, not genuinely kind, and overall seemed lost. Maybe all his stories were true or maybe not, I don't even care. I actually felt bad for him...but I do wish he had not been my tour guide, I was so rushed around, I didn't get a lot of 'say' in things, and his high strung energy was just frenetic and unpleasant to be around, just yammering and talking nonstop and mostly negative stuff or about material things.
I ended up paying for his lunch and giving him a 10% tip at the end of the tour because I wanted zero possible issue when I departed the vehicle at the end of the day. However, I had not intended nor desired to pay for his meal at the ‘expensive’ restaurant of his choosing. As a solo-female traveler, it's not worth the risk of retaliation.
