Table Mountain, Penguins and Cape of Good Hope - Jean Marie was our awesome tour guide during our Cape Town tour with my friends. He took us to these wonderful and adventurous places; Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope and we also went to the penguins. It was a wonderful tour we had and our tour guide was very informative.

Flexibility, good vibes, and unforgettable discoveries - We were lucky to have Jean Marie as our guide during our trip to Cape Town, and it was an incredible experience! He is not only very professional and passionate about his city but also extremely friendly, fun, and flexible. We got to discover much more than expected and had truly unique moments. Always smiling and helpful, he adapted to our wishes and even made it possible for us to do activities outside the planned itinerary (paraglading, quad, market). An exceptional guide that I highly recommend! Flo

Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope and Penguins - Jean was the guide for this trip and would rate him as excellent. I was travelling solo and he was very courteous and extremely knowledgeable. Be prepared for quite a long day, but you are rewarded with spectacular views and Jean knew the best spots to take your photos. In summary excellent and absolutely no hesitation in recommending him for your tour

A Fantastic Tour of Cape Town - We had such a fantastic experience on this day trip with Jean Marie! Though this was supposed to be a small group tour, we got lucky and ended up being alone on this tour, which meant that Jean Marie tailored the experience to what we were looking for. He was a fantastic tour guide, teaching us about the history, geography, landscapes, and cultures of Cape Town and the entire area. And we truly saw everything! Table Mountain, the Cape of Good Hope, penguins, Bo Kaap. He took great photos and had great recommendations for things to do outside of the tour as well. Highly recommend this tour if you’re a first timer exploring Cape Town and highly recommend Jean Marie as a tour guide!

Jean was the best! Amazing tour with breathtaking sights of Cape Town and beyond - We booked a small group tour and turn out to be just the two of us with Jean as our guide. From start to finish Jean was knowledgeable, friendly, the best photographer and the perfect host. He even did a stop at the pharmacy on the way back to our hotel as one of our party wasn't feeling well. High lights of the tour were Table Mountain, Boulders Beach Penguins, Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point but we did so many amazing stops I can't even list them all. Jean even made us a booking at a delicious seafood restaurant for lunch with great views. Cant recommend enough because of our guide!

Worst Tour I have Ever Taken - I am writing to formally complain about the Golden Eagle Travel & Tours team based in Cape Town, South Africa. On March 10th, I booked a Table Mountain, Cape Good Hope, and Boulder Beach Small Group Tour via Viator. Unfortunately, this was the worst tour I have ever experienced due to several mishaps and mistakes by our tour guide, Albert. Firstly, Albert was over an hour late, and there was a lack of communication from the tour company. We had to call several numbers to reach someone. Although the delay was due to the tour bus breaking down and heavy traffic in Cape Town, Albert was neither welcoming nor apologetic upon arrival. Instead, he instructed us to jaywalk across a busy street to board the bus, which was illegally parked. For the first 15 minutes, Albert did not speak to any of the passengers, leaving the bus in silence. After picking up the last person, he explained the situation, which we understood. However, he then singled out my friend in front of the entire group, repeatedly asking if she was okay in a tone that made us extremely uncomfortable. My friend even begged me to book another tour. I want to preface this by saying I had a wonderful experience on a similar tour with Viator last year. I often travel to Cape Town due to my husband's job and was excited to show my friends around. Unfortunately, this tour quickly turned into a nightmare. Throughout the tour, there was a lack of information about the historical sites we visited. When Albert did provide information, it was difficult to follow. Additionally, he continuously made stereotypical and geopolitical slurs and jokes about various nationalities, which made everyone uncomfortable throughout the day. At Boulder Beach, Albert left the group unattended for 10 minutes to look for a tour member who was already with us. He did not inform anyone why he left and handed the van keys to two group members, leaving us confused. At Cape Good Hope, there was a long queue due to our late start. Albert blamed the delay on the 10 minutes he spent searching for the missing person, who was with us the entire time. As a result, our time at Cape Good Hope was cut short from 2 hours to 1.5 hours. Albert instructed us to meet him by the benches near the funicular ticketing area. When my friend informed him that we were still waiting for our food and might be 5 minutes late, he reassured us not to worry. Despite this, we were only 2 minutes late, but Albert arrived 30 minutes late and blamed us Americans for the delay. He falsely claimed he had told us to meet at the bus and shifted the blame onto the tour group members instead of taking responsibility for his actions. The final straw was when Albert stopped the bus to look at a township in Hout Bay. I am aware that stopping at townships is considered inappropriate and unsafe. This made me extremely uncomfortable, as these are people's homes and neighborhoods. I shared this incident with my husband's South African friends, who agreed it was highly inappropriate. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews, especially as I have worked in the service industry for 8 years. However, our experience with Golden Eagle Travel & Tours and Albert was so awful that I felt compelled to report these incidents to Viator and request a refund, as the tour was not worth the several hundred dollars we paid. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
