A truly moving experience - A deeply moving experience. To hear first hand from a former political prisoner of the privations they experienced was confronting. The experience from the ferry to the buses and commentary on board is very well organised. An experience not to be missed.

Was a visit to Robben Island including a pickup from the hotel - Great guide... Made us feel welcome right from when he picked us and took us. He took his time to make sure we were comfortable. I would surely recommend him to any traveling party.

History at times it's sad yet gives you goosebumps - Amazing experience, guided by someone who had actually lived there, with first hand knowledge and the living conditions yet with purpose not so posetive yet survived and spiritual growth

Activity to be undertaken - It was incredible, the visit was made by an ex-prisoner, it was moving. Activities to do if you come to Cape Town!

Cannot leave CT without visiting RI - A must visit place where Nelson Mandela spent 17 years of his life. It is more of a bus tour after taking a 30 mins ferry ride from V&A waterfront. It is a somber place with so much history on what South Africa is today (apartheid et al). The most humbling part of the tour was the guide - Mr. Sparks himself was a political prisoner in the island for 7 years. Recommended !

First time to South Africa - Had a great time taking the ferry across the ocean to get to Robben Island. The prison museum was such a touching experience. Very informative and gained so much knowledge from our past history. Our driver was great also on time very prompt it was worth the money the visit made our cape town experience more wonderfully than it already was. My husband and I encourage you to take the family if you could. It's a much needed trip to experience!

very poor, terrible guide. not worth R600 each - Very poor 2/10 of any historical site I have visited. I was under the impression we would be seeing the museum & some insights into Mandela's time on the Island. Regretfully our guide who was also imprisoned there, just wanted to speak about his own experience. Whilst appreciating his views, that's not what we expected nor paid for. Also he clearly had no training or ability to be a guide. He became animated and emotional ( for about 40% of the time) which made him speak very quickly so we couldn't understand him, he couldn't project voice, and started talking before every one was assembled. I was about 20 m away when he said this was Mandela cell, but which one? He rabbited on about his life so long that there was no time to look at any cells, showers, or the very few " exhibits" on display. We didn't have tine to even visit the museum.
