• Tonto National Forest - Our private Road Easement in Tonto National Forest is connected to North Scottsdale/Carefree, Arizona. The trailhead is located 15 minutes northeast of our pickup location from the Sundial in Carefree.

Feel the excitement as you enter the mine, tracing the same gold vein that prospector “Old Rackensack” pursued in 1880. Our Hard-Rock mine offers guests a safe opportunity to experience the meticulous methods used by early miners to extract the precious mineral that significantly shaped Arizona’s history.

On the way to the mine, explore the rugged terrain of the Upper Sonoran Desert with stops for photos of the flora and fauna, accompanied by educational narration about the archaeological Indian ruins in Rackensack Canyon. After an exciting ride up the mountainside to Summit Studio/Giftshop, enjoy complimentary refreshments before heading to the mine.
