Good Private Driver for a Self-Guided Visit - This is a nice leisurely tour to two historic Moroccan cities. It starts in Casablanca and picks you up at your hotel. You are driven south to the seaside market town of Azemmour. The driver stops for a while just outside the historic medina and you are free to explore for about 30 minutes. This is mostly housing, so there aren't a lot of shops or restaurants. If you want an authentic feeling city without all the tourist traps, this is probably the city to visit. It was winter when we visited, so it was fairly empty. There is a beautiful riverfront promenade with some restaurants, but they seemed to be closed during the slow season. After Azemmour, the driver takes you to Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort just to see the modern elegant architecture of the gated community. I'm sure you could do some shopping as well, but we just walked through the hotel lobby briefly. After Mazagan, the driver takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of El Jadida. This is definitely a summer town, but it has a compact historic seaside medina with shops and restaurants. You are free to roam here for about an hour and a half. It's a nice place to get lunch. After El Jadida, the driver takes you back to Casablanca to visit the Hasan II Mosque, which is the third-largest mosque in the world, and the largest one outside Saudi Arabia. You have to pay separately to enter the mosque, but the entrance fee does come with a tour. These are large group tours, so you'll be with dozens of other tourists. Dress respectfully, but it isn't required for women to cover their heads inside this mosque while on a tour. They request that you not take photos inside the mosque. It's a nice tour, but it's a large loud environment, so it can be difficult to hear. After the mosque, the driver will take you by a local market and first show you a cooperative where they sell Moroccan herbs, oils, soaps, and spices. As with most Moroccan tours, it is possible that the tour operator receives a cut of any sales at the shops where they take you. That said, this tour operator and the cooperative worker were not pushy at all about sales. They were happy to show you their products, but did not use high pressure sales tactics. Just be prepared to receive a presentation and know going in if you want to buy something or not. You do have a little free time to walk through the market after the cooperative. To end the tour, you visit the Monty's Café & Restaurant and get a free hot drink and pastry. You can buy more if you want to eat a meal there. It's a decent restaurant with common Moroccan food. After the meal, the driver drops you off at your hotel or train station. Be aware that this is not a guided tour of any sites specifically. The driver will provide some insight about the sites you visit, but you are mostly paying for a private driver. If you're looking for an in-depth guided tour, you should book another tour. If you are fine roaming the sites on your own and just want a comfortable private transfer to each site, this is a great tour for you.
