Rabat - Volubilis
Medina of Rabat - The tour begins with a visit to the Mechouar and the exterior of the royal palace, the king’s official residence. The journey continues to the esplanade of the Hassan Tower, the remnants of the “Unfinished Mosque” from 1196.
At the Hassan Tower, Mohammed V led the first Friday prayer upon his return from exile in 1956. Opposite the tower is the majestic Mohammed V Mausoleum, the royal burial site. Marble steps lead to a gallery overlooking the impressive chamber with the white onyx tombs of Mohamed V and his sons, Moulay Abdallah and King Hassan II, the current king’s father. The Royal Guard stands vigil in their elegant red and white burnous.
Next, visit the Kasbah of the Udayas, dating back to the Almohad dynasty. Located on the south bank of the Bou Regreg estuary, it protected the town from 1666 to 1672. Observe the 12th-century red ochre ashlar gate flanked by two towers, and the oldest mosque in Rabat, the Jamaa El Atiq.
Volubilis - The next stop is the ancient Roman city of Volubilis. Recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site and dating back to AD 40, Volubilis boasts some of the most remarkable Roman ruins in North Africa.
Fez
Fez Mellah - After breakfast, the guided tour of the Fes medina begins, one of the world’s largest enclosed cities. Explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, heaps of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets, and various Moroccan art objects. The tour includes visits to the King’s Palace, the tanneries, and potters. For lunch, there is an option to dine in a traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina. After lunch, the tour continues, concluding with a return to the hotel for the evening.
Fes – End of the Tour
Old Medina of Casablanca - On the final day in Fez, airport transfers will be arranged according to flight departure times. This marks the end of the services.
