Fes - In the morning, your guide will meet you for a 6-hour tour of Fes and its medieval medina. Begin with the grand gates of the Royal Palace and the nearby Mellah (Jewish quarter). Then, visit the ruined forts on the hills surrounding Fes for stunning panoramic views across the city. Next, explore the pottery quarter outside the medina, where you can see how the famous blue pottery of Fes and intricate tiled mosaics are crafted.

Your guide will then lead you through the medieval medina on foot, where you can lose yourself in the labyrinthine streets. After breakfast, your driver will take you toward Merzouga, a key exchange point between northern and southern Morocco for centuries. If time permits, there are several interesting stops along the way. You can observe wild Barbary Apes in their natural habitat or visit the towns of Azrou and Ifrane, known as “the Switzerland of Morocco.” If you’re curious about nomadic life in Morocco, consider a detour to the city of Erfoud.

Upon arrival in Merzouga, you’ll receive an orientation to prepare for your camel ride through the desert. Your guide will provide all the necessary clothing and equipment and help you get comfortable with camel riding. Once ready, you’ll head to a stunning viewpoint to enjoy the sunset before making your way to your camp for the night.

Visit the Market of Rissani and the Stunning Todra Gorges

Rissani - Sunrises in the Sahara are among the world’s most breathtaking, so rise early and savor a cup of coffee or tea in the crisp morning air. After breakfast, meet your driver and head to the nearby Saharan village of Khamleya, where you can enjoy traditional music, drumming, and dancing.

Next, drive to the market in Rissani. Admire the impressive gate that welcomes you into the town before exploring the market. Continue through the desert to the town of Tinerhir, which offers amazing viewpoints of neighboring villages, rivers, and palm trees. Todra Gorges - Today’s destination is the magnificent Todra Gorges, a series of limestone river canyons (also known as wadi) in the eastern High Atlas Mountains. Both the Todra and neighboring Dades Rivers have carved out these deep, cliff-sided canyons.

Drive to Aït Benhaddou via Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate - This morning, head to the city of Ouarzazate, a popular stop for travelers in the Sahara Desert. Set in a beautiful valley at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, it’s certainly worth a visit. Attractions include a stunning 19th-century palace and a museum dedicated to films shot in the area.

Ait Ben Haddou - Continue driving to the village of Aït Benhaddou, home to the UNESCO Heritage Site Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. With some Hollywood enhancements, this protected fortified village appears frozen in time, still resembling its 11th-century days as an Almoravid caravanserai (a roadside inn and settlement). Movie enthusiasts may recognize it from Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth (for which much of Aït Benhaddou was rebuilt), Jewel of the Nile (note the Egyptian towers), Gladiator, and—most recently—Game of Thrones.

Marrakech - By the afternoon, you’ll arrive in lively Marrakech. With its bustling souks, flavorful cuisine, and warm hospitality, it’s no wonder tourists are increasingly drawn to Marrakech.

Settle into your accommodation and relax before meeting your driver. This evening, enjoy a delightful Moroccan experience at a traditional Hammam. You’ll quickly discover why Hammams are a wonderful and unique way to experience local culture.

Hammams typically begin in a dry, warm room to relax and acclimate to the heat before entering a sauna and then a steam room. Next, you’ll receive a body scrub with black olive-oil soap known as Savon beldi.

Return to your accommodation and venture into the city for dinner and nightlife. Djemaa-el-Fna Square buzzes with acrobats, storytellers, dancers, and musicians.

Marrakech Discovery with a Local Guide (Medina & Majorelle Gardens)

Marrakech - This morning, visit some of Marrakech’s beloved gardens. Your local guide will take you outside the old walls to explore the Agdal Gardens and the Royal Palace. Next, head to the Menara Gardens, featuring large olive groves, a water basin, and views of the Atlas Mountains (on a clear day). Then, pass through Gueliz—the modern European quarter—to reach the Majorelle Garden, a meticulously designed botanical garden created in the 1920s by artist Jacques Majorelle and now owned by the estate of Yves St Laurent.

After exploring the gardens, return to the old medina to continue on foot and discover historical palaces and museums. Visit the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Koutoubia Mosque, and explore the famous souks (markets and bazaars).

Imlil - Enjoy an early breakfast as you prepare for your departure. Your destination for the day is the enchanting town of Imlil, a quaint Berber village in the High Atlas Mountains. The surroundings of Imlil are dominated by 13,000-foot (4000 m) mountains, snow-covered for part of the year. The highest mountain in North Africa, Mount Toubkal, can be seen from Imlil. The area is perfect for walking and enjoying nature and the environment.

A private, local guide will meet you in the village and take you on a walking excursion through the beautiful forests and hills. Expect numerous viewpoints, plus a delicious and traditional lunch in a charming Berber house.

In the afternoon, resume your hike through the valley, exploring many small villages along the way. Return to Imlil for a leisurely evening and dinner.

Imlil to Casablanca via the Atlantic Coast

El Jadida - Today, make the return trip to Casablanca via the scenic route along the Atlantic coast. Your first stop is the seaside city of El Jadida. Due to its Portuguese architectural influence, El Jadida lacks the typical Moorish appearance. It’s an excellent example of the blend of North African and European cultures in the area. Enjoy the city’s bustling core and beach.

Casablanca - After exploring El Jadida, continue to Casablanca. Delve further into the city’s history, culture, and economy, which reflect diverse influences across Morocco. If you haven’t already visited these sights, don’t miss The United Nations Place, Mohamed V Square, the Central Market, and the Habous Quarter.
