- Hassan Tower - A 10-minute journey leads to the Hassan Tower minaret, next to the remnants of an unfinished mosque. The mosque and minaret’s construction began in the 12th century under the Almohad ruler, Yacoub al-Mansour. The tower stands 44 meters (140 feet) tall and showcases intricate decorative elements, including calligraphy and geometric designs.
- Mausoleum of Mohammad V - After a 1-hour drive, arrive at the Grand Islamic mausoleum in Rabat, constructed between 1961 and 1971 following King Mohammed V’s passing in 1961. Designed by Vietnamese architect Nguyen Viet Thu, Moroccan artisans and craftsmen executed the construction. It boasts impressive Islamic architecture and intricate marble work. The tombs, crafted from white onyx, are located beneath a large dome.
- Royal Palace of Rabat - After 15 minutes, reach the grand palace built in the 1860s during Sultan Mohammed IV’s reign, serving as the official residence of the King of Morocco. The palace features traditional Moroccan architecture, ornate ironwork, and intricate tilework. While visitors cannot enter the palace, they can admire it from the outside and enjoy the surrounding gardens. It remains a significant cultural and historical site in Rabat.
- Chellah - Visit the Chellah fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012, and Rabat’s most popular tourist attraction, home to both Roman ruins and a medieval Muslim necropolis.
- Ancient Walls Medina Rabat - A 5-minute walk to a historic fortification dating back to the 12th century, constructed from sandstone and reinforced with bastions, gates, and towers. These walls encircle the old city of Rabat, offering visitors a chance to walk along them and enjoy views of the Medina and surrounding area.
- Kasbah des Oudaias - Listed as a UNESCO Heritage site at the mouth of the Abu Regrag river, it stands tall, concealing a history full of events that have transformed it into a beautiful archaeological site in Rabat, attracting tourists and visitors.
- Andalusian Gardens - In about 10 minutes, arrive at a beautiful, traditional garden built in the early 20th century by French architect Jean-Claude Forestier. It features a central reflecting pool, orange trees, flower beds, fountains, pavilions, pergolas, and ornate tile work and gates, all characteristic of the Andalusian garden style. Note: the garden is closed on Fridays.
