Fantastic tour! City... - Fantastic tour! City views, history, culture, art, food, wildlife, and more! Tour guide Marco Antonio and driver Ignacio were awesome and helped me practice my Spanish too. Vehicle has AC and is comfortable but depending on capacity someone might need to sit in the middle of the front row. It’s got a seatbelt and has the best view of the drives.

An excursion with many pros and cons - Yet again, a Viator excursion that failed to deliver the basic features of the itinerary. The Casablanca stop was cancelled due to road closure due to the holiday, so that was not the tour director's fault. The guide was personable, and when we were off the van he gave very good discourse in both Spanish and English. He was good at answering questions, even if he had to make up answers. On the van there was no amplification, so from the back of the van (a seating we did not choose) we could never hear what was being said. This is inexcusable and greatly diminished the value of the excursion. The driver did a great job in the horrendous holiday traffic, and dealing with accidents on the highway. He is to be commended. The drive through the mountains to Valparaiso was scenic and delightful. The first stops in Valparaiso were pleasant enough – at the Bellavista to see the Poets Park and the vista of Neruda's Sebastiana house. The Cerro Alegre was also nice with great views of the harbor and the city. But there was NO 30 minute stop at the Plaza Sotomayor, in fact, no stop whatsoever, just a drive past the square, which meant that people on one side of the bus never saw the plaza at all! I feel as though I have not really seen Valparaiso, since we did not experience the heart of the city. This basically ruined the excursion for us, and it was so unncecessary, because a lot of time was wasted with stops at crafts shops and the like along the way. The Viña del Mar stop was so cursory it felt like an afterthought. The restaurant at Reñasca Beach was very expensive. The fish was fresh, and well prepared, and the portions were extremely large. But the prices discouraged some people in the group who were clearly on a budget and thus did not eat at all. It would be far preferable to choose a spot where there were more options. The beach was nice, though a pretty standard resort beach, nothing special.
